After Much Deliberating....

It arrived yesterday. I was very busy so I didn’t have time to do anything except handle it and put it aside. Very beautiful gun. Pictures never do them justice.

I robbed a scope off of another airgun and sighted in. I used jSB heavies first. Chronied it at 995! Whoa big fella. I dialed back the HST almost 4 turns. Got it down to 850. Swapped over to jSB 8.4 shooting 915. It’s putting them in about 3/8” at 30 yards. That should work for me.

I decided to polish the wood some and give give it a wax. Thanks CHUCK for the idea.

pellet suggestions would be appreciated also. I will have to take some time to run some different ones through it and over the chrony.

Does anyone know what the factory regulator setting is on these? It’s .177 cal.

Thanks for looking!

Jefferson State Air Rifles makes a picatinny rail scope rail that has compartments that holds three magazines that easily snap in, along with a barrel shroud mount that attaches to the pressure pipe, that has pic rails on bottom and the two sides.

If you zoom in to the pic of the scope rail, at the rear you will see a machined radius that is an allowance for a anti cant level to be glued into. Those boys at JSAR think of everything.

That’s really slick there BR! I like it a lot. I wish manufacturers would think of things like this and include them with the rifles. I need to get some additional magazines. I ordered a single shot tray from EBay. I’m curious to see how that works.

Greenarrow you are going to have a ton of fun with that Wildcat 177! There is nothing like the look and feel of a real wood stock! Enjoy my friend!

Best regards, Chuck

You are correct sir! I AM enjoying this WC. The kids love it and my wife has actually shot it 3 times! Yesterday we were shooting the Big BOOM Blast caps at 30 yards. We had some cars made out of cardboard that came from a burger joint. We saved them and put the small bottles in the cars and shot them so the cars blew up! It was pretty fun. I have dialed the power down. It’s shooting 8.4 JSBs at 830 now. I noticed that the HST has backed off. I’ll need to lock tight that in place. I shot 16 magazines through it on a fill. That’s pleasing to me since I’m shooting at targets in my backyard and I like a higher shot count.

I am soooo happy that I bought the wood. I do prefer lumber over synthetic. If this was a hunter gun, I may feel different about it.

Hey, Chuck, I’m gonna put this out cause YOU ARE the Wildcat guru, and I’m putting it out for GreenArrows benefit, but when he said his kids like shooting it, does he need to be made aware of that pellet probe fault? I’m thinking a kid may try to ram the bolt shut, even if there may be some resistance due to a fault of some kind(like my cycling lever we talked about) and trash that pellet probe? I have a 22 year old and I’m hovering above him when he shoots my gun, just for that reason.

in fact, now that I think about it, my buddy coming over to shoot my guns? I think we’re using either the Hercules Bully or the Marauder instead, till I get that cycling lever resolved with you this Sunday.

Dont mean to appear like a downer Mr GreenArrow, but that is an expensive piece of equipment that you just treated yourself to, and I’d hate for you to send that in for repairs if something breaks, buddy.

What is this fault you speak of? I have noticed there is quite a bit of resistance when cycling the magazine with pellets in it, not nearly the same force is needed when the magazine is empty. It seems there is a little wiggle/slop in the magazine. I’m not sure if that is normal or not? I assumed there would some in there since it’s not a spring loaded mag and the action cycles the mag from pellet to pellet. I was thinking about taking the gun down to see what’s happening in there. The used wildcat that I was considering buying, the owner said that he added a sleeve to where the probe travels to take out the slop there. His was .22. Maybe the .177 is the same and needs to be shimmed?

Anyway, thanks for bringing this up. I appreciate you watching out for me. I certainly don’t want to damage this thing especially if it can be prevented.

Very nice, congrats! I was mildly tempted to buy it, but decided against it. Surprised it sat there so long.

I’d love to see what it does with 13grners if you have any!

Thanks intenseaty22!

Well, I’m sure happy that you didn’t buy it since I did! Ha ha! I do not have any 13 grain pellets.... one of the few that I don’t have in my stash. It’s a tank of a little gun. I love the compactness.

Congrats Brett, great looking little rig. You actually got some pretty nice timber too.

Jimmy

Thanks Jimmy! Good to see you still around. My old Royale is down there closer to you in AZ. I really like my Streamline and I’m liking this WC also. I agree with you on the wood, it looks pretty good for a factory piece. It’s turning out to be a fun little gun but, then again, most of them are! 😎🤠
