AF CONDOR

I bet there are still lots of AF shooters around. Maybe they don't post much. I have a .177 condor with TT 3600 psi smaller CF tank, pcptunes dual gauge regulator, and super sear. The shorter tank keeps LOP about stock even with the regulator in place and shot count is good with the higher pressure. The dual gauges are nice to have-tank pressure and regulator pressure at a glance. It's an extremely potent air gun and first shot accuracy is very good.

i have a AF 'Talondor' in 22 (a talon converted to condor). it is a shooting machine. i have done no other mods to it other than supersear trigger.

i may consider going to 25 with it in the future.

it was awkward to get it configured to my liking due to the way the bottle attaches and its effect on cheek weld and scope height. currently i'm using a Vortek red/green dot sighting device.

it will completely penetrate 5/8" plywood target backing at 65 yards with high accuracy.

I think two things have lead to the relative decline of the Condor.

The first is that, at the time, it was quite powerful. Now though, while it is no lightweight, the allure of being the biggest baddest bangstick just isn't a thing it has going for it.

The second is the rest of the market grew and it didn't. 750$ just isn't cheap for a PCP anymore especially since it is unregulated, it is single shot only, it isn't very efficient on air, and it's whole tank-stock system is rather awkward.

Don't get me wrong, my first PCP was a Talon SS which I still own and it has a special place in my heart, but as a platform it just isn't competitive next to more modern offerings around the same price point.

For now the Texan has its place as the most powerful production airgun, but sadly it too I think will decline in popularity dramatically when quality regulated big bores start hitting the market. Air Force, as pioneering as they were in many regards when they first hit the market, I think really needs to update their designs and that may have something to do with why they acquired RAW.

Just my 2c. :)

I wanted an AF talon p for a bit but to get it the way I wanted it was gonna really run the price quite a bit.The cost was gonna go from 450$ for the talon p to over 1000$ with mad dog stock,cf bottle, regulator, tank drop block, top hat and sear.I just couldn't justify it and it still be a single shot.I might one day buy a talon p used if price is right. There are much better choices in the 1k price these days over building a AF gun unless you are very happy with a bone stock one.I do love the fact they are USA made.👍

I just picked up a used TalonP, and I am blown away by its performance. To have as much power as it does and effectively put the lead on target.

I will be getting a Condor real soon, as the TalonP was really just picked up really as a packable option & to try the AF platform, I'm hooked. After only a couple days with it I can already reload a follow up shot pretty effortlessly but will continue to practice every time I take the gun out.

A Condor. 25 with a couple of mods can move heavy lead fast and hard hitting in a light weight package, what's not to like?

Already have a 18" barrel coming to think all I have to do is add 6" longer barrel and this gun will gain fpe equal to my regulated Synrod and be able to break down and fit Inside of my backpack...

So I just bought a new condor with ring lock system this year. I can change the transfer port to litterally anything i want and the power i get is close to 130 fpe with slugs and full power mod. Or i get over 45 full power shots at 650fps. I can change calibers from 20 cal to 25 in 3 mins and the whole platform is modular. Sto is correct that it is strictly a single loading breech but as a hunter I kill on the first shot. If i miss with a monster powerhouse like the condor i shouldnt have shot at the animal in the first place. Point is this airgun is a specialty airgun made for heavy hitting hunting. It has a lothar walther barrel with incredible accuracy. They dont have a regulator but make up for it with a huge tank with lots of shotcou t even in 25 cal at full power. Point is i can tune her down and shoot 20 squirrels with no poi change or set her up to hit 8 coyotes in 1 night without poi change. I know there is no other airgun under 1300 bucks that can do what the condor can do for 800.plus tje trigger kicks ass. So long story short if you can hit what your aiming at and dont need a clip full of bullets this gun is amazing and not at all obsolete For me it is the best purchase I have ever made. The racoon that used to harass my cat may disagree But hey hes a hat now so whatever.

Yea that's why I was thinking about it. just as a hunting gun for medium gam, raccoons, opossum, coyotes things like that. I currently have an older AA 410 FAC in .22 cal. and although there is enough power to take the animals mentioned before, my range is limited especially on the larger animals like coyotes. with the power you can get out of the .25 with that new ring lock system and slugs I dont think a Texan would be needed if I keep to head shots at no more then 60-70 yards. or maybe messing with the random noisy crow at extreme range. haha

All legitimate points but not that simple IMO. Seems that it is a simple design (reliable), easy to modify, as much power as most would need, well supported, and flexible. The one I have has plenty of power for any air gun needs I'll encounter and is quite accurate. I have other repeaters and more "advanced" air guns but it still has a place for me. Glad I've got it.
