i know a lot of you guys on this fourm shoot alot of high end stuff which just blows me away half the time i have no idea what you are even talking about i have 0 experiace with pcp but want to i have asked before and only want about 300 dol for gun so it must be hand punp friendly was interestied in the dar 25 but i cant get ahold of them also was looking at air venturi both are around 300 i dont like the avenger for the simple reason i dont like the idea of pointing barrel at myself to check the gauge just because. anyways does anyone here own or care to comment on the new barra 22 cal pcp rifle also 300 dol seems to fit my bill would like to hear one good thing about it from a real world user thanks.

This is a tough one! I had never heard of this rifle till I read your post. HAM has a write-up on it, but they didn't seem to do any actual testing of it, so power and accuracy are still unknown.

I also looked at their website, and the value seems to be there at $275.00 plus free shipping! But, again, until you see some real world results, you're essentially being a AGN Beta Tester for the rest of us!

Here’s a short article discussing a handful of entry-level air rifles for around $300. I suggest looking into a Gamo Urban based upon what I’ve read other members on AGN write about the brand. I have no experience with any of the rifles in the article. Hopefully others that do can chime in to better assist you in making a decision. https://airgunmaniac.com/best-air-rifles-under-300/

If you can find a used Benjamin Marauder within your price range that may also be a worthwhile option to consider. Good luck to you and please don’t be afraid to search the AGN forums and ask questions if you don’t know something. There are plenty of helpful members here.

If you’re really curious about DARs specifically read through some of these AGN threads https://www.airgunnation.com/find/ I was reading about the brand the other day and looked them up the site I was perusing was sold out of all DAR models.I forget which site it was

The only PCP listed in that article was the Gamo Urban! I had an Urban and it was very light weight and made decent power. But, for a sub-$300 air gun, the magazines were ridiculously priced at $50 each! If you can find a used one in the Classified that includes a couple spare magazines, it would be a good choice, if not and you want a couple spare mags, the overall price rises pretty quickly! IMHO, there are better options. Again the Barra could be a very capable air gun, but I'd definitely wait for some reviews by real users, not just the YouTubers who get freebies for doing raving reviews!

After reading the hipe I went with the .177 Dar. All I can say you will be hard pressed to fine a regulated pcp that's better in the $300 price range. Side lever cocking a d a really nice mag system. Very good accuracy also.

The problem with getting a Barra is there doesn’t seem to be anyone on here that knows much about them and the one you are looking at is a new design. If there are some minor issues with it are you comfortable fixing it yourself? Bigger problems mean you would need to send it in for warranty and who knows how that would go? You would be much better off looking at a more proven platform like the Gamo Urban already mentioned. There are several on here that have the Dar, Shambozzie talks about how good his is all the time so I would seriously consider that one one as well.

ok this is why i am trying to do my homework on my budget i hope you understand my not wanting to junp into any thing highdollar at first i realize if i end up likeing shooting pcp it would be better to go bigger thank you for your advice no company or model is really off the table yet will keep studying till i make the leap.i will be the first one in my small town to get one that i know of.

The Xisco Sentry gets good reviews and has been around for a while. I’ve never shot one, but know people who own them and they seem quite pleased with them. The problem with all the others mentioned, excluding the Urban and DAR, they are all new and unknown. They look good on paper, but until they start getting into regular folks hands, it’s really hard to tell how they will actually perform!

I have been a beta tester before, and it’s never much fun. I’ve gotten to the point I’d rather wait till there are a few hundred in the hands of actual consumers and hear what they have to say before shelling out hard earned money on an unproven air gun.

You’re smart for being patient. And even smarter for waiting for average Joe’s to talk about their experience with a particular gun. From my experience I can offer a couple pieces of advice. I have a gut feeling that the JTS airgun offerings might be a good option. But the guys who have them right now got free guns. Three of the guys who have them are solid dudes. Do I think they would openly flame the gun on a forum? Would you bite the hand that feeds you? I’m a very direct bastard when it comes to airguns and even I would probably think about choosing my words wisely if I enjoyed getting free guns. But I guarantee those guys are sending honest feedback to JTS. When those guns get into the hands of the masses, you’ll have better decision making data but your not out of the woods yet. Of all the DAR, Kral, Urbans, and Benjamin’s sold, how many of them landed in the hands of a clueless knucklehead? But at least you have a lot of data to weed through. I went through a phase of being an airgun test pilot. It was expensive but I learned a lot. Over the last year I got three of my friends budget guns, then spent a day doing some mods and tuning. I kinda had an idea what I needed to improve upon before the guns even got here because there was so much info out there from actual owners. Your gut feeling will probably be the deciding factor when you finally decide to add a gun to your cart.
