Can a synthetic stock be cut and have an adjustable stock hardware installed? I'm thinking about an FX streamline or a royal. Thanks in advance for the help.
I would think that would be doable as long as the stock is solid and not hollow. I installed that very thing on an AA that I had, but it was a walnut stock.
Shotguns have a lot of products out there to do this. Maybe Google shotgun stock cheek adjustment, or something like that and check it out.
RJoe, Exactly as Revoman said; it will depend upon whether the existing butt-stock is hollow. I suppose you could fill the stock with some kind of plug or epoxy if it was hollow too. Here is a factory synthetic stock on the Marauder. It comes with an adjustable comb.
Thanks for the help. I'm a reformed trap shooter so am familiar with all the ways to spend money on a shotgun stock. I actually have several sets of hardware for doing an adjustable comb. I guess my question should have been, is the material in a synthetic stock conducive for an adjustable comb install. I haven't handled an FX synthetic stock but some of the synthetic stocks I have handled just haven't felt solid. Has any body taken a saw to an FX stock?
Have ya tried trap shooters anonymous?? I have not cut into my stock, it actually feels solid and the butt stock 'recoil pad' has long screws which may indicate it is solid as well. I suppose you could email FX. I did that last year on a magazine issue and heard back from them about a week later with apologies for the late response.
