Additional AOA prep for the FX Impact needed?

Color me excited with learning my silver .25 FX Impact is in months earlier than expected. Arranged to have it billed and shipped after the first of the year. The .30 barrel/probe, extra Mags and arrow barrel aren’t in yet, but no worries, all in good time. I’ve got a Bobcat .25 MK1 that's been a pure joy out of the box from AOA.

I have been reading with great interest and appreciation for those of you already in possession of yours who have kindly shared your experiences. A subset of you have had some issues. Not unexpected with such a new, radical platform. and I’m hardly in a panic mode given what I have read to date. Unlike some, I don’t expect complete perfection in any high end gun much less such a new platform, but I would like to mitigate those known issues before my gun ships. Yes, AOA tests their riffles before shipping, but they can hardly be expected to catch every issue that might arise shortly after the buyer takes possession or would haven been caught had AOA had the extra time and means to prosecute further inquiry on every gun that ships. Therein, lies my dilemma.

I want to avoid having to return the gun as some of you have had to by asking AOA to further go through the gun for known issues, some further testing, needed modifications, etc.. Some of you have had leaks, alignment issues and even burs. Naturally, I am perfectly willing to pay for the service, but I am unsure of what to ask for? It’s my understanding AOA offers a professional tune in the neighborhood of $350.00 when last checked, but that may be overkill and unneeded. I’m not looking for any special power levels, FPS spreads or shot counts per se since the gun is already so easily adjustable by the user. I don’t know that they offer blueprinting as an option but that would likely be overkill and perhaps cost prohibitive? I’d like to keep the cost at $400 or less. So you owners of the Impact and perhaps other FX guns, what you would ask for as in?
(Be advised I'm no smith or inclined to do any deep tinkering as in tearing down my own guns, so "specificity" would be truly appreciated.

1. What to check for and modify such a areas with, leaks, burrs, Mags, or o-rings that are the wrong size and don’t seal, etc.

2. Who at AOA is among the best FX airsmiths to ask for.

Many thanks in advance for those that would care to chime in.

"I" would wait another full year and see if all the bugs get worked out, but we are talking airguns and waiting isn't something we all do well. ( "I" know the sound of the UPS truck)

Again this is just "my" idea , if I was going to purchase an Impact I would have it drop shipped to AZ in Idaho! He has a well deserved reputation of being able to get the most out of pretty much any pcp airgun. No idea what AOA might do for extra cash but everything you mentioned should either be right from the get go, or, be covered under warranty. Get one, shoot the darn thing a bunch and if anything is wrong ship it back for free warranty work, $400.00 should cover postage?

AZ is good.

Thanks John,

AZ's reputation is legend although I have never had the privilege of using his services. Your suggestion is a tempting one and probably would result in a gun far superior than anything AOA could accomplish, but again I'm not really looking for the gun to be tuned and I suppose technically AZ's work would void the warranty. I simply want to assure that most of the bugs are worked out so I don't have to ship the gun back to AOA within the warranty period and hopefully beyond.

ClearedHot,
They are getting pushed out the door just as fast as they come in, 4 went out the door just while I was there picking up mine, my guess is they haven't even had the time to properly interrogate the system to identify all of the elements that could benefit from a little tweaking. Besides, a lot of the issues popping up should never have made it past the factory CQ, its not stuff that the distributor should be dealing. with routinely. Even if you paid for an additional screening service, they aren't going to catch everything. My Impact literally put 8 shots through 1 hole at the indoor test range at the store, not sure what their distance is, but when I got it home @ 50 yds. off sand bags it looked like I was shooting a shotgun at the target. Best advice you will probably get is to wait a while until the factory gets their stuff together or buy one now and deal with the issues. Good luck!
