accurate rifle

I am thinking about buying a new air rifle I plan on bench rest shooting and some pest control .I now own a Air Force Condor in .22 cal and a LCS SK-19 .22 cal. I plan on selling the SK-19 and buying a Daystate Red Wolf Laminate in .22 high power or a FX air rifle in .22 cal. I would like to hear any pros or cons on these rifles.

I will not be competing due to age and health but I do enjoy shooting accurate rifles.

Thank you.

I’m in the same boat as you. Owned a couple of FX rifles and they were great but always had to fiddle with them to keep them running in top notch condition. I now own two RW safaris and I just shot the hell out of them, every day. No fiddling, adjusting or tuning, just shoot. Charge battery and clean barrel every now and then. 6 to 7,000 pellets through each. Extremely accurate, no problems.

The Daystates win regularly in many of the 100 yard matches and are simply gorgeous guns. If your into electronics they are a hammerless, electrically fired and tuned gun. There are not allot mods you can easily make to them or many aftermarket parts available. But if you are a traditional rifle kind of guy it's hard to beat them for looks, quality and accuracy.

The FX Impact is also a regular winner at the matches and is very versatile at what it can become. It has the highest shot count magazines of any of the guns available by far. Many factory barrel caliber and barrel length changes are available. Different sizes and types of air tanks are also available and soo... tunable they are. When it comes to both factory and aftermarket parts they are the king of the hill so many parts are made for them it can be hard to choose what to do next. So, if you don't need traditional these are a good choice.

There are a couple of lesser known brands that have taken places at the 100 yard matches but I can't find them right now.

I have a RW HP in .22 purchased from Ken Hicks at SPAW probably three years ago now. Absolutely deadly and flawless to this point, with no maintenance of any kind required. I used the CARM magazines and single shot loader (use it 95% of the time). I have a couple of friends that have FX MK1s and MK2s, that always seem to be fiddling or working to maintain theirs.

Personally, though I am absolutely certain the FX is a fine and fantastic firearm, I find the RW to be much simpler in terms of keeping it sealed up and performing, once tuned to the perfect combination.

BTW, my RW shoots the FX Hybrid Slugs as well or even better than the 25.39 JSB Monster Redesigned pellets - both shooting sub 1" at 100 yards in perfect conditions.

Whichever camp you end up in, I think you will have a lot of enjoyment and fun!

The problem with the SK-19 is the ergonomics, I can't get comfortable shooting it!

The condor is better after I installed a tank adaptor & regulator from Talon Tunes. I am looking for something with a more traditional stock that will shoot great every time without having to tinker with it every time. I don't mind cleaning the rifle to maintain the accuracy I want.

Thank you,

Wayne

I own three red wolves. They are the most amazing rifles I’ve ever owned. I’ve owned more than a handful of FX rifles also. Including the exact rifle that Frederick brought over to the states, and won the 100 extreme br match with years ago.

RW. 25 if going long.

I have a 17 a 22 and 25. I have been doing posts with all of them for the last 2 to 3 months.

Two of them I bought used.

I now have 900 rounds thru my new Redwolf .22 high power and I am impressed ! I am shooting @ 25 yards the best I have scored is 247 with JSB redesigned 25.39 pellets on med power. It also shoots JSB 33.95 pellets very well on high power. On low power it likes Beeman Kodiak 21.1 gr pellets, unfortunately they are no longer available and I only have a couple of tins left.

I have 12-50 PMII Schmidt n Bender scope on it and after sighting it in I have not adjusted the scope at all. I am still trying to shoot a 250 but no luck yet!

Thank you.
