Absolutely mustard

I made a new moderator for one of my guns today so I thought I would give it a try. First shot at 25 yards the pellet went exactly where I had aimed so the new mod had not altered the POI at allšŸ‘ It is very quiet, not quite as good as the one it replaced but it is only 1/2Ā the size and 1/3 the weight so it met my expectations šŸ™‚

After, the test, I decided to do a bit of plinking, shooting at ever smaller targets. Matches at 25yardsĀ form my Theoben S-type in .177 were too easy........177 pellets on top of matches were no problem. A grain of pepper on top of a pellet on top of a pellet was more difficult to set up than shoot as I managed 5 for 5 hits without dislodging the pellet.Ā

So what about this?

a single grain of mustard sitting on a pellet, the challenge was to hit the seed but leave the pellet. Let me tell you, at 25yards this is a very, very small target , even with my scope on maximum magnification it was almost impossible to see as the cross hairs obscured it. I took aim just above the pellet and sent a .177 8.4grn pellet on its way at 800fps. Genuinely I hit the mustard seed first shot, it was I direct hit as found tiny fragments of seed splattered into the target behind, also on very close inspection of the target pellet there was the tiniest of smudges on top where that be kissed by the projectile.

It never ceases to astound me, how accurate my Theobens are. There is nothing in it between any of them out to 35yards but I have 2 possible 3 that are even more accurate from 50-100 yards.

I love thisĀ gun.

I wish I had a video camera that shootsĀ as good as my guns doā˜¹ļø

Amazing,I have always heard great thing about Theobens ,I remember that some of them have Anshutz barrels, does yours?

Thanks, I love my Rapids and RAW, All but one of mine has LW barrels, the other is sporting a FX stx liner (the jury is still out on that) but Anshutz, BSA and weirauch have all been fitted at some point for the factory and almost every other make of barrel by shed gunĀ smiths. Although Rapids are an old design and donā€™t have the features expected on more modern guns (qf/ gauge) this has never bother me as there are less thing to go wrong and fewer o rings (only 5 on a mk1 and 3 more on the regulated version) indeed, my oldest gun that I have had for 20+ years has only ever blown one o ring and that was while I was out in -15c.Ā
