A Warning...heed it, ignore it...I'm too old to be impacted!

Is this a thread about “bans” on airguns? Or, that more regulation is coming? Or just sheer conjecture? Last post on this thread, there are many, many other “firearms” the gun grabbers would have to “snatch” up first. Seems like some here like being alarmed.

These days, you cannot bury your head in the sand. Call it what you want, but politicians take your freedoms in a heartbeat if you don't keep them in-check. These are not conjectures. This is historical fact.

And the argument "There are many, many other firearms the gun grabbers would have to snatch up first." ... Is that a solid defense? No. That's like saying "take our nukes, but please leave us some cannons." If the powers-that-be take the firearms, they already are de-nutting you. We might like air rifles but protecting the 2A doesn't mean poop if the enemy takes everything away and leaves everyone with just PCP's. If that happens, forget airguns, because we already lost at that point.

Exercise your rights and be active. Period.

Just protect the Second Amendment as you see fit. No one is burying their heads anywhere. The intent of this thread was to stir the pot.

@pthere, you wrote the above don’t put words in my mouth. I defend my Constitution rights. I just don’t go around like “chicken little” saying the “sky is falling”. Lots of you like to point at the “big bore” air guns as the problem. They are not, “gun grabbers” are. The intent of the OP was, and he’s been successful, to create divisions within our air gun shooting community. Me personally I don’t care what you shoot as long as you do it legally and responsibly.

One thing that is not going to help our hobby is the posting of videos. The videos of people shooting birds and other pests or even hunting of larger game. I personally dont mind as I watch these videos because I understand whats going on. There was a video of a raccoon taking a head shot from a .25 airgun (Actually several videos similar to this out there) and began flopping all over the place. Well with just a quick look at the responses and so many were up in arms over it. "The raccoon is suffering!" The rants were all over the place. But do they listen to those who hunt and know whats actually going on when they tell them that the raccoon is dead and thats just the body reacting to brain being shut off permanently. People like that see what they want to see and there is no telling them otherwise. Great example is I worked with a lady a few years back. Really nice lady. Still talk to here every now ant then and its well over 20 years that I have known her now. Talk to her about guns/airguns and her response is that they kill. I tell he if you set a gun down on a table where nothing could happen. She simply says. "Guns kill people." People like that are the ones who are going to cause issues for us and when they see what they believe to be senseless killing thats just asking for issues.

I fully agree that "gun-grabbers" by far are the problem. I am not insisting that the "sky is falling," but I think it is a good idea to find a balance somewhere between the yin and yang of it all. Staying idle and silent is not the answer, but shooting from the bell-tower isn't either. Keeping a close eye on the behavior of elected officials is a start.
