A simple test of three scopes......

The test was to zero at 25 yards at highest power, dial up 5 M.O.A. to hit a swinging target at 50 yards and then back to zero at 25 yards. The scopes were a Hawke 8-32 x Sidewinder, a Leupold MK 4, 8-25 x with 50' focus adapter and a Bushnell 4200, 8-32 x.

The results.........The Leupold was dead nuts returning to zero and crystal clear but has a "dead spot" with the 50' adapter at 35-40 yards, the Hawke was fuzzy and failed to return to zero. Of the three scopes tested, only the Bushnell 4200 returned to zero being dead nuts on , was crystal clear and easily adjusted throughout the 50 yard distance. After confirming zero back to 25 yards, I dialed down to 8 x and was still dead on at 25 yards. Due to poor customer service from Bushnell, I would never buy another scope from them but this one is a keeper.

The rifle used was an FX 400 in 22 cal. on medium power with 18 gr JSBs.

Eh, interesting test of sorts... But not very useful. Both the Bushnell and Hawke are worth half or less than the Leupold. The Bushnell is discontinued. And the Leupold really isn't designed to shoot under 50 yards. I'm not surprised the Leupold is dead on with turret adjustments. For what you pay, it should be able to perform the box test flawlessly.

Yup, NEW Bushnell's are not too good, very small amount of MOA adjustment, the WORST warranty in the business and in Bushnell's own words "are not intended for airgun -pcp or otherwise- use". Now the lupy 35x when sent to the factory and reparalexed for airgun ranges is a fine utility.
Ever notice Aeon has 100 MOA on the 24x and 74 MOA adjustment on the 8-32? .
