A pistol was found.

Today, an interesting 177 cal air gun was found in the car. 😊

That's a slant grip Webley senior. They ran from around the mid 1930's to the (I think late) 1960's.

I've got one from the 60's in very good condition and got offered around 230usd for it at one point. Obviously the pre WW2 ones are worth the most. There are a few threads that tell you how to get a ballpark 'age' from the various markings as well as the serial number/ lack thereof.

They're awesome little guns with some interesting design. Tom Gaylord/ bb pelletier did a write up on them at one point which is worth a read.

it is a post war model in 95% it has a book value of 295.00 in it's condition when found, I would say about 100.00 maybe I little more or less

some number 4 steel or 3 bronze wool and a lot of elbow grease it will clean up some and it could be a fine shooter

rust is not it's friend but it is a nice find

and if you look at Chambers there are some parts available

good luck with the clean up

The Webley Senior is a fine example of pre-plastic, pre-build-'em-cheap-as-possible, all-machined-STEEL air pistol manufacturing excellence. Here's hoping whoever neglected that one into the value of a trot-line weight did so out of "what the hell happened to my baby", rather than "I wonder where that BB pistol went". Regardless, NICE TROT-LINE WEIGHT!

You got yourself the finest built pistol of all time ….hand built from a solid profile machine forging …

Webley slowly went downhill after this pinnacle model until we reached the half plastic Tempest before the demise.

In that condition a good £300 Sterling …maybe a bit more with the 2 barrels you got there ..Runs a phosphor bronze piston ring and can make 470 fps ….use car oil to lube it, it does not quite manage to diesel at this power level….use std 30 wt motor oil …ideal for the metal to metal contact of the piston ring..

Clean it out and lightly oil…wipe it over with oil…..air loom pistol….

Use to use a .22 version for bopping rats at short range when a kid….Later had the Premier but it was not quite so well made as the Senior.
