A little fun with a Mk I

Sunny and 69 today-took a mental health break on my lunch hour and went out back for a little fun time with my recently acquired Crosman Mk 1. A friend made me an offer I couldn't refuse on this Mark 1.

It's been modded at Tim at Mac 1, and has a telepathic trigger, he also cut the scope grooves. I put a nice red dot on it and and I'm pretty happy with what it does at 10 yards-the marked group is 10 shots, the others 5 shots. I only shot one powerlet's worth, around 30 shots IIRC.

I was shooting off a bean bag from my bench. It seems to love JSB 13.4s, but I haven't tried much else yet. I may spring for an HPA tank regged at 850 psi so I can shoot in the colder temps.

It will be interesting to see what it can do with a scope, but for now I like the red dot.

Got to love the MK1's they have pretty good triggers to start with and they can really shoot. Mine is in pieces now waiting for me to figure out how to fix the seal on the co2 cap. Nice shooting by the way.

Is that a factory long barrel? Looks like it would be accurate with the open sights given the long sight radius.

The only thing I have to be mindful of when shooting mine is to stay clear of the cocking knob. I like the parallel thumb hold and my left thumb will sometimes stop the hammer from hitting the valve as it moves rearward.

Thanks for that. Ten years back recovering from an assault including a bit of brain damage from being whacked in the head and face and throat with a pipe or club or similar I tried to fix the Co2 puncture caps but it was too difficult for me to understand at the time. Today they were child's play. ;^) I have made huge strides in the years since then but sometimes I still think I am back there.

I had three of the caps, all different types, set aside and repaired all three in about an hour which is a bit too long but it is what it is.

Appreciate the links mine was the lever style pre 1975 cap. I still need to get some of the correct o-rings but the 600, MK1 and S&W 78G should hold air now. Probly NOT though as they have been sitting for ten years and even though rebuilt I expect the, new more than ten years ago, o-rings are more than very dry by now.

The MK1 gushed out the entire contents of the first co2 cart, when I flipped the lever, but it held pressure on the second. Fired of a few shots they were a bit harsh sounding so turned the adjuster all the way down and it still sounds like it is wasting bunches of air. I can't shoot much now though arms are really wasted again. So need to take it easy for a few months to heal up. But it shoots again after all these years! ;^)

I think it was Leonard J that did the barrel shroud for me twelve or fifteen years back. It looks factory but they did not make any long ones that I am aware of. I was dumb hacked out the barrel myself made it out of a 2250 unit. It shoots OK but not spectacular like I would like. I'll do another barrel someday to make it right.
