Check your Top barrel face seal O-Ring around the barrel and the bottom breech TP seal since the velocity seems to be a bit low-FWB 601. Part numbers 1750.359.1 and 490002

You may also get by if you are lucky carefully removing the seals then turning them around the flip side and just reuse them because you might be wasting air.

Its from the long term storage or worn out with enough use may have flattend out.

You got a hot shooting P17!

If you plan on scoping it I would suggest you look for the FWB Short loading gate for scope friendliness otherwise you are going to have to use extra high rings to clear the factory OEM FWB loading gate which will make shooting very awkward.

Those P17s from China are diamonds in the rough. They are unbelivably accurate regardless of their ridiculously cheap price. I bought 2 and have a pistol scope mounted onto one to extract the most out of it. Just bummed the rings clamp onto the P17's plastic dovetails. I have this cocking aid for that one to clear the scope for easier pumping. They were available from Canada but am unsure if the seller still makes them and since you are considering ordering your FWB seal kit, you should inquire with that seller if he knows anything since he is from Canada.

Agreeing with Coldair... that P17 is shooting fast, and the 601 a tad slow. My P17 has been converted to 5mm... so it NEVER sees 400fps... not even close lol. But it is fairly accurate, and helps me use up 5mm pellets that my converted 5mm S&W 78G is too stuck up to digest.

The Canadian seller is where I get all my 601 related rebuild parts, and they are good to go. He sells them on ebay also.

Only ever shot one group at 25 with my scoped 601. Been too busy to shoot it much since then but believe you me... it will do better than that and SO WILL YOURS !!

.....I really wish the P17 had some better sights, it's a little tough to cock but it's actually pretty accurate.

Agreed !!

Here's what I did to my P3... basically shaved down the original plastic slide ears flush with the top plane of the slide, trimmed the dovetail (narrowed it) of a Bo_Mar rear sight until it was as narrow as the original metal sight, and dremelled my way through to the let the now modified Bo-Mar housing's dovetail hang inside the new cutout through the slide, and pinned it in place the same as the old sight, only lower. Viola !! Better sights. The sight plane works out so that the front sight is untouched.

I've bought a couple 300 kits and some aperture inserts from him on e bay. Will probably wait til after the shipping madness is over before I buy the 601 kit. It's stupid accurate the way it is so I hate to mess with it much right now. I hate to admit it but I don't think my best 300S can shoot with it.

Mine will shoot too, but over the course fo 50 shots on NRA 10M targets it seems the 300 will drop a few points more than the 601. I've just started shooting informal 10M matches and have a bench and trap set up in my shop. So far the best I've shot with my 300 is 489/500, the first round I shot with the 601 was was 494/500. This is with peep sights and front rest only. I will say I shoot the 300 better offhand, at least now I do.

My 300 is capable, 25 yards, five shots, factory peeps.

Nice to see those P17 numbers. Have any of you guys with the P17 had the piston pulling vacuum when you cock it? mine is brand new and I've noticed a bit of this. Sometimes it will pull itself closed when cocking?

Yes, it will try to close up some if I don't fully extend it on the cocking stroke.

Ziabeam, I like what you did with your rear sight. I'm thinking mine is made different under the sight. How old is yours?

Dad bought three of them off the first boat back in '98 or '99 and sold me one.

It looked the same as any P3 or P17 before I ground down the ears and dremeled a passageway all the way through the slide which left a window of daylight showing. That window is where the modified Bo-Mar snugly fits, and the roll pin hole from the side is a new one, that holds the new sight, since the old (higher) hole was cut away when I removed the plastic slide ears that held the factory sight blade.

Hope that made sense.
