A gun fan from china!

@Huben....I think most of us share your enthusiasm for airguns and there are some interesting pictures you posted. I have mixed feelings about seeing some of the well-known brands around the world copied without much of an attempt to distinguish it from the real thing, and/or made into a "fantasy" gun of sort..but to each his own.

I have to take you by your word that the strict airgun controls in China necessitate people there making their own airguns. However, there is a line where you cross between an airgun enthusiast who wants to have access to the fun and technology of the world famous airguns and someone who copies and profits from the hard work and innovation of others. I will not the judge in which groups you belong in, but by asking for someone on this forum to provide you a 3D print of a Steyr you are missing what in essence this forum is about. You probably did not check out the numerous threads and posts by AGN members where members tinker, improve, rework, innovate their rifles that they use and have fun with.....and they do because it's a hobby and because of the camaraderie amongst us that makes us a team and friends.

I cannot speak for all on this forum...but let me say this as a member: This forum is welcoming to airgun enthusiasts but not for profiters. So instead of blind and mindless copying of innovation and technology that people around the world share and respect....I invite you to copy instead our enthusiasm for the aigrun hobby and enjoy being part of the team...be one of the givers and not one of the takers.

I understand what you concern, I also know that you think it is bad to do it
But if I can through the normal channels have their own favorite regular vendors sell PCP, why I still can DIY?
You want to know that your DIY have the following questions, 1, you may be for the purchase of raw materials is grasp to go to detention! 2, you may be facing some manufacturing problems, such as leakage, there is too much error in shooting, perhaps in the process of making lead to injury.
3, spend more cost, including time cost (debugging unceasingly, the rework, the waste materials, etc.)
China has a small workshops secretly production of PCP can buy, but the PCP is not what I want, they make will be better than I've ever made, but that's not what I want.
I know that should protect copyright, patent protection, but when you don't have the channel to get what you want, what do you do? You can oneself fumble, slowly slowly. Because it is what you want, maybe you are in the process of practice, can a better understanding of it, improve it. Isn't it?

Making a diy airgun is not the issue. People get upset about putting another companies brand on the product without permission. It's considered to be a form of stealing. I.e. Intellectual property theft.

As buyers here, we don't want to be worried about receiving a fake when we buy an expensive airgun which is a big concern with buying things like watches online.

If I lived in China under such restrictions and had to pay over $8,000 for an original, I might suddenly become ok with a cheaper alternative from a local machine shop. It sounds like there is no legal way to buy an airgun there anyway (copy or original). Either way there is a risk of jail.

Still it would be better for everyone if the air guns didn't have company names printed on them. Those logos add nothing to the shooting experience and without them, a small change to the stock design and there is no issue. They obviously have the skills to create some unique and good looking designs. People love seeing unique DIY airguns.

I'm interested in those pellet molds. I've seen people casting their own bullets but I haven't seen anyone here casting diabolo pellets. I wonder if it works out cheaper or if pellets are too cheap here to make it worth it.

FredLi,

But, your Chinese companies such as Waxi-Bam for example, do make air rifle parts for several eastern European brands that get outfitted with CZ or LW barrels during "home country assembly". So in reality if they wanted to they could unveil their own brands easily based on blueprints they have. They just know that based on your country current law it is impossible to sell them. And they also know that they would not be able to export these rifles to countries such as USA that protect patented products.

As for cloning cars isn't the Chinese brand Geely already does that? And there is a market for them? So get a clone Q7 if you really like it. Can't you?

This thread blows me away. I founded and run a program, nothing to do with air rifles. I've declined two calls from a country in the last two weeks that is infamous for its disregard for intellectual property. I'm sure there are several BILLION great people in China. I'd like for the US and China to become even better friends over the years. Only a few (in every country, including the US) with money as their life compass are dealing dishonestly.
