A good day by the frozen lake.

A little spot and stalk around the lake edge. The squirrels were out in numbers before the snow hit. The hares have turned white for the next few months. Tree rats were shot from 10 to 50 yards and the rabbit was shot from about 4 feet. Jsb 18.1 gr.

GOOD SHOOTING! How on earth were you able to get within 4 feet from that monster?

Thanks! These hares are relying on their white coats to keep them hidden. When there is not a whole lot of snow they can be easy to spot. Mid day they rest under logs and brush piles. They are mostly active at night. I was moving slowly and looking hard at all the good cover.

Man that’s one big paw on that rabbit! I’ve been told they’re around my cabin but I have yet to see one. I hope one day I do because that looks like a lot of meat!

They come in handy when the snow get deep.

They have small home ranges. Just walk slow and look under brush. They like to run behind you after you pass them also.

7 squirrels.....WOW!!!!! Are you sure there are going to be enough left when both of us go out?

Also, are you allowed to hunt the rabbits at night? If so, I can bring the X-Sight and we can move it between guns if you want. Easy to zero.

No worries they are thick around here. I’m working on a game plan. I have some ideas of where to hunt. Six of them where shot within one 60 yard area. I will look into the law on the x-sight. Would be pretty sweet if legal.
