A first for me - 5 shot 1 MOA group

It's been a long time coming. I purchased my first Impact over 3 years ago, severely damaged it (don't ask, stupidity reigns on that one), and did a complete rebuild, including the regulator and every O-Ring in the gun. Then upgraded to the X Barrel, then upgraded to a superior liner and lastly, added the Power Plenum. Now it's shooting very well!

So went to the range (Lee Kay in Salt Lake, 75 yard line), and couldn't make anything work. New bipod that wouldn't attach properly, jury rigged some bags, then used that thing they provide made out of 2.4's and a little carpet. Was doing absolutely miserably, then this happened:

That was a 5 shot group at 75 yards. So, I think I've finally gotten it tuned correctly. I've never shot a 1 MOA group at that range before, so this is a complete first for me. By the way, that's a 3 inch target.

I know a lot of you can do this, but I was quite surprised. I'll take it, now the only question is, can I repeat it?

which brings up a problem. This is my tinkering gun. I have two more items to add, a slug kit and a dual flow transfer port. It's shooting so well that now I'm questioning whether to add them or leave the gun alone for a while. Oh well, I'll probably shoot it this way during fall, and do the upgrade this winter and retune next year. I love to tinker with it! So much fun.

For me, it's been a rough couple years to actually get to the range and shoot so I've been tinkering with my guns instead. This fall, I might get to shoot much more often and actually see the results of all that tinkering. I think I will enjoy that as long as I can.

And any one in the Salt Lake area, I highly recommend Lee Kay. It's a complete shooting facility with pistol to 25 yards, rifle at 25, 50, 75 yards, Second rifle at 100, 200 and 300 yards, speed shooting in the back and Cowboy Action areas as well. Trap and Archery are around back. Very nice folks that help whenever they can. Considering I'm one of the 3 or 4 oddball airgunners that shoot there, they take good care of me. And it's only $5 for a day pass, and yesterday was free (go figure).

Great place to shoot.

I run into the same problem with my other hobbies "it's great now...do I need to keep futzing with it?" I've found that I end up leaving it as it is until I get bored with it and want to try something new. That always seems to work out best for me. There is something to be said about experiencing/understanding the tune, and that takes some time. It also will provide information for you when you want to mess with it again.

You'll know when it's time to start tinkering again. :)

An awesome group at that range! I can say it will perform just as well with the pending mods you mentioned. Yes, modding these MKIIs is fun because the increase in capabilities are very evident. Minimum power levels are harder to fit in alongside power tunes once these mods are complete. Still doable though.

That's kinda my fear with adding more power modifications. Where do I hit the line where it's too powerful for the 34 grain pellets? It's running at a regulator pressure of 110 bar, can go lower if needed, but how low can I go? Don't want to go below 100-ish as if I remember correctly, that's the lowest pressure recommended.

This is so much fun though. I can always remove the modifications if needed, I really wonder where the line is? Oh well, that's half the fun, finding the lines . . . . .
