A better slug design for hunting.

I posted this in the pellet, slug, and projectile section but it didn't feel right not sharing it in the hunting section as well.

Just a short video showing how much current slug designs can be improved for hunting.

Long_Shot and I have been perfecting our own slug designs with amazing results. Maximum energy dump with extreme tissue damage. Even at low speeds.

Enjoy! https://youtu.be/_Gq6LmEk0SY

HI I would like to ask why would you want it to frag , I have found slugs which frag cant be used for hunting larger smll game as it wont reach vitals with pcp guns , can you explain please why you like them better for hunting ?

I know them would be great on small stuff like small birds you dont eat , but say a coyote sized animal , they come apart and do not penetrate well I have had this happen even with many deep hollow pointed slugs ,I am talking about hunting medium to large sized small game now , not sparrows ,

I have found a soft lead slug works best for this LOU

There is a lot of small game and pests between sparrows and coyotes like rabbits, squirrels pigeons, crows, raccoons and groundhogs to name a few. Most all pellets and slugs I've seen don't expand much on game unless hitting bone and just poke small holes and waste energy as they pass on though. A slug shot into the chest area that would dump all its energy in majority of critters I mentioned would be more effective than poking a small hole. A lot of small game has been shot with shotguns so the occasional pellet is encountered is not a big deal. Plus if you can place the shot in the chest that can lesson fragments in the edibles. If you are going after larger critters like raccoons, groundhogs and larger critter you better be using the larger calibers or sticking with head shots. So in my opinion a fragmenting slug would really be useful on a wide range of game and pests and also lesson the chance of ricochets when shooting critters on the ground. IMHO Bill
