9mm Kalibrgun Cricket strikes again

I took down this medium sized boar with a single shot to the temple.

The boar was vigorously digging up some roots about 45 yards away. Little did he know that I was posted up in some bushes, armed with my 9mm Cricket, a Thermacell (mosquito repellent), and a Primos monopod trigger stick.

At that distance this airgun is still producing a whopping 100 FPE.

Time to fire up the smoker!

"Nomadic Pirate"How does that Thermacell work with the relentless Hawaiian mossies ?
The Thermacell works surprisingly well. It gets a bit hot if you carry it on your person, but if you're on a stake-out it works wonders. Also it works best in calm areas. Note that if its really windy it will not protect you.

"DaveG"cool beans, Michael. I think I will keep an eye out for one of those there 9mm Crickets, as every time i see a pict of one, I get a little twitch going ;-) Anyway, good shooting! I know it is a terrible thing to wish, but wouldn't mind having some of those pests around here!
Dave, the 9mm Cricket is a burly airgun. In my opinion a bullpup should be used for spot & stalks, but this thing is a tank. With the Hawke scope it weighs in at over 11 pounds.

I've gotten some decent groups at 70 yards (pictured), but nothing to write home about.

I find the .30 much better for long distance shooting (which I know you like).

"CampFussell"Great shot Michael. Gotta check into one of those "thermacells". We've got skeeters at Camp Fussell already.
Jimmy, I can't stand skeeters, especially when I'm trying to take a shot with them buzzing in my ear or landing on my face. They are pretty fierce over here too. I find the Thermacell a good alternative to spraying yourself down with bug repellent. They make a few different version: one that you can carry in the field on your belt loop, the other is kind of like a lantern style for camping. The later may work better at Camp Fussell.

I understand what you mean about the weight of the 'tank' -didn't realize the Cricket was so heavy! I have a 9mm prototype that I started before my arm kept me out of the shop - the action is an absolute tack driver using the JSB .35's (in the 860- 890fps range). The trajectory is a bit more loopy, but accuracy is as good as anything I shoot at distance. Shot count is the drawback in terms of comparing with the .30 though. I mean I will do 20-24 shots in .30, but maybe 5 or 6 in 9mm... Need to put me together an action with higher fill pressure, I guess ;-)
