FX Crown MK1 with 700mm Superior Heavy in Chassis shooting (sorted) .217 JSB Knockout slugs at 890 fps.

I shot these targets today at 50 yards. Sorry Mike N, I haven't had a chance to print any of yours on heavy card stock yet, but I had these targets already printed on heavy stock so that's what I used. I shot all these targets from the magazine. I just shot the targets straight though from top left to bottom right and didn't take any sighters.

1st target(top left) was shot this morning in windiest condition with a "cold bore".

2nd target(top right) was shot mid afternoon and I fired 4 shots to warm up the barrel/gun before I began on the target.

3rd target(bottom) was shot in the late afternoon as wind was dying down and I fired 4 shots before starting this target as well.

Those look pretty good. I’m guessing from high 230s to mid 240s for the last one on the Wrabf. If you are not shooting sighters, are you just guessing the hold? 15 mph crosswind will put your hold close to midway between the target you are on and the next one over. Probably about 2” with those slugs. That’s a serious hold. Nice.

Mike,

Yes, I had other things going on today and shot those too fast, but yesterday was a rain out and I wanted to get some 50yard targets posted today. The first target was the hardest to figure holds. Wind was strong and gusty. I watched the flags best I could and adjusted hold accordingly, but never held outside of the circle(by the looks of some shots, maybe I should have). The last one I shot really quick and held dead on every dot. Not sure if there were flyers or wind push.

I really need to take more time and shoot WRABF targets in calm conditions to get a better idea of performance. I wanna compare them to other slugs and pellets too. I'll try to do it this week if the weather cooperates. Thanks for the interest and the input.

MoeHofer,

Thanks! I don't know a whole lot about slugs yet, but from my experience, the variations in diameter of slugs from batch to batch or tin to tin can greatly affect the way they shoot. I have to check/re-verify/or sort(using a pelletgage) every bag/tin by diameter size. I find that weight differences are minor and don't affect performance too much, but diameter variances affect performance tremendously in my guns.

I don't sort pellets(shoot the right out of the tin) and have enjoyed consistent accuracy with them, but in order for ME to have any consistent accuracy with slugs, I HAVE to make sure they are a certain diameter. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.
