One of the guns that I bought during my recent airgun binge buying phases was this 78g Smith & Wesson .22. I bought the pistol more as a novelty than a serious shooter. Being that it was not some replica firearm built by a company that just stamps the original firearm manufacturers name on the pistol. This pistol was built IN the smith & wesson factory as a training tool for those customers who owned the firearm version. Upon receiving it I immediately shoved a co2 in the gun and fiddled with it for a few seconds before I realized you have to pierce to co2 by hitting the butt of the pistol grip 🤪 Grabbed some .22 barracuda pellets I had laying around and began to rattle off some 5 shot groups. To say I was impressed was an understatement. I am no expert marksman but this pistol made me feel like I am! On top of this pistol being a freakin laser the deal was one of the sweetest AG deals I’ve done. Bought the pistol for an average price if it was by itself but it came with a near perfect condition BSA pistol scope! Might not sound that sweet to you but I needed a pistol scope and feel like I got one for free😁

Looks like the barrel has been replaced with a longer one? Hard to say how accurate it was before the change but there is a good chance it was it shot quite well as they are known for their accuracy. I have one in .177 and one in .22 but the caps on both guns leak so have not shot them in many years. Good to see that these antiques are still out there putting pellet downrange.

Yea it has a custom barrel that might shoot better than the original idk, this is my first time owning aans shooting a 78g. I’m loving this antique though! It’s interesting how different the co2 is delivered compared to modern co2 pistols. Was thinking about running it off HPA with the ANT dummy cartridge but the way it feeds the co2 cartridge upside down kind of gets in the way of their dummy cartridge🤷🏻‍♂️
