.308 texan

200g way to heavy for a texan..you need a modified valve and 3,500 psi.+ to really move 150g in the 1000 fps .. so to push another 50g .. 4,000 psi + that valve will be gone pretty quick.. so the rcbs 150g sp 0r rcbs 150 fn .will be the top weight for a reliable modified texan...unless you get the master in airforce to work on your gun...then numbers change

Does anyone know the twist rate of the Texan 308 barrel. I think Lehigh defense says a 1 in 8 twist is best for those heavy copper subsonic bullets. Cutting edge bullets also make some subsonic 308 that look pretty mean. The 190 grains call for 1-8 twist and they have a 215 and 230 grain that call for 1-7. Would probably need a custom barrel and all kind of mods to get those shooting well but that would be absolutely awesome to be able to send them accurately down range at 1000 ft per second. https://cuttingedgebullets.com/308-190gr-subsonic-raptor

You know he's talking about gr (grains) not g (grams) right? Not being snarky just making sure.

Twist rate is 1-14 .. good for up to 150gr .. 😁 .. if you have a upgraded Valve parts.. African air makes a 1-10 for heavy bullets up to 220gr .. but a new valve n other things must be changed.. it would be great been able to shoot this 175g 308 spitzer from a texan maybe a project for when i retire..
