2nd Yong Heng dies, now what?

If you want 100% reliability and longevity (or virtually so, compared to other options), I'd just spring for an Alkin. I haven't made that jump yet, but I wish I had just done that in the beginning. Hind-sight is 20/20!

I had a Daystate 110 that died a terrible death after about 1/5 years. I fear I received a bad one from the get-go, though. (unlucky)

Ialso had failures with cheap compressors , I bought a AirTex-45 now I am going on 4th year and no problems I would buy this one for sure , they are nice people they gave me a deal on it , It had to be shipped to a shipping dock and I went and picked it up ,here is a picture of compressor and website m Owners name is Bruce , It is for breathable air so it is dry and clean, has huge filter systems and seperators , It has an hour meter as well Mine is 240v but you and get them any way even portable like diesel or propane or gas ,

also Mine fills my big 98cuft tank in 5 min or less

Nuvair is the Coltri distributor in the US.

That said, I think air-gunners may be missing out on something. Over time I have come to realize that Bauer Compressors has an extensive dealer network in the US. Rather than pay to ship a Coltri MCH-6 to my home I could have purchased a Bauer compressor from a local dealer and picked it up. I would then also have had a local dealer available for easy, quick repair.

Here is the Bauer dealer finder. There are four (4) near me-

One last thing- I have always found it odd that the Daystate compressors, made by Coltri, had problems. This, while Coltri compressors are generally low maintenance and very reliable. I suspect that Daystate ordered a “dumbed down” product from Coltri with the hopes of make a significant profit off each sale. It would be nice if we knew what occurred so others can make an informed buying choice.

So how did your Yong Hengs die?

First one, the top of the HP piston broke off. Second one, I haven't found the problem yet. It made a loud pop noise like a burst disc ruptured but after examining it, it is OK. Pulled the top end apart and piston rings and reed valves are OK. Checked for leaks, using soap, on all connections but nothing. It will only pump to a tad under 2000 PSI and go no higher. I'm just tired of futzing with these cheap Chi-com boat anchors.

Yes, poor QC on the second stage piston that happened to me as well. They are posed to have locktight on them else they come loose and thrash themselves on the head. Twelve dollar part and an hours werq and mine was back in business and has not given me any trouble for couple of years now. Although I recently blew another Dowty seal which is just a five minute job.

Hard to say on the other but most often a leak somewhere is why they don't pump past 2000psi.

These can be a pain if you get a crummy one for sure and so many things from China need werq before they can be used or shortly after.

It's always good to be able to upgrade.

Thanks to everyone who has made suggestions. I am on a limited budget of ~2K so Alkin and Bauer are likely out of my budget range. I know, buy once, cry once would likely apply hear.

My Coltri has been trouble free for many years. I change the oil every 25 hours, or 1 year, depending on use though. (Manual says to change the oil every 50 hours/1 year.)

I need a more reliable compressor to top off my 60 minute 4500 psi SCBA tanks. Considering a Daystate 110 but they seem to be out of stock. I’m open to any suggestions? If I’m going to spend more money I want 100% reliability and longevity

My Daystate 110 lasted a total of 5 hours before it broke. I have the parts to fix it but have been using my Yong Heng to fill my tank to 4100 PSI so as not to tax that compressor too much. I can top off anytime I want to so I don't really need the full 4500 PSI. Forget about the 110 & spend the extra money to get the Coltri MCH-6. I wish I would have.

Interesting. A compressor costing roughly $2000 that was hailed by some as the new be all for airgunners (the 110) when it was introduced now no longer functional contrasted with a compressor that costs roughly 1/6 as much which is still in use. So much for "chi-com boat anchor" I guess.

Yup!

They made a 4 piston compressor into a 3 piston compressor and made one piston work twice as hard and that willl ad to defects.

If i recall they omitted the thierd stage and let 2 and 5 be equal. Put undue wear on the second and fourth stage piston.

The Coltri MCH6 series is top notch for a "fair" amount of $$$

In the professionals series for sure and a tried and true compressor.

That and i dont like the Turks :-(

Mine did that a few times. Once it was acully the burst disc, one time it was the o-ring in the line filter, and the recent time it was the female foster fitting.(the foster fitting that comes with the compressor for some reason uses 2 orings stack inside.
