Results 25M Benchrest match, Temecula, 12/2020, results

Well the wife was shooting a Streamline in 22 cal with the JSB 18's and an Aztec Emerald scope I was shooting a Bantam HR 177 with FX 10.3's and an Athlon scope. Mike B. was shooting a 177 Pulsar not sure what pellet and an Athlon scope (15X max) The three of us shot off a bipod and rear rest....Now the other guys' guns were out of my league and I have no idea how to explain them except you could dial scope using the rest adjustments that the rifle was clamped into and press the very light trigger to the rear.

Tony,

Your wife shot the identical setup in relay 2 that I did in relay one, just for fun. The gun is a “parts gun” made mostly from cast-of Mac1 USFT parts, some redesigned or slightly modified to suit me. It was originally a cut-down Field Target rifle that could also be used as a pistol, but lately I made it a bit longer and used it for Hunter Class Field Target. But with few scheduled FT events in SoCal, I decided last week to set it up for LV class 25M benchrest. Mainly I changed the bottom bracket to a one-piece extended flat rail to fit the bags better, and changed to a fixed 36 power Weaver benchrest scope and lightened the trigger a little more (from 4oz to just under 3oz). I used 8.4gr .177 JSB pellets right from the new style screw-lid tin.

The front rest is from Randolf Machine with adjustable width top, the rear a tall small-ear Edgewood with carry handle.

I used two small second-hand windflags (i dunno the name) and a homemade wind probe designed by me and Roger Lovett.

Roger and Jim also used USFT-based .177 rifles with various and sundry mods and high-mag target scopes.

All three of us “other guys“ own multiple versions of the basic USFT, and rarely shoot anything else in matches, though we do own other guns.
