When I shoot the 25 meter targets, the .22 pellets leave a round shaded gray mark that is bigger than the hole in the paper. It looks like it is the diameter of the pellet. Would you say this would be the same diameter as those round steel .22 scorers? ie, is it a good way to score the cards?

That's what I'd suggest. It is the way targets are scored on competition and the plugs are not expensive.

Got the plug. Boy it makes the scores go up! I hope I'm using it correctly. Just insert in pellet hole and see what ring the leading edge of the gauge touches/crosses?

I got it at Champions Choice. I couldn't find it on the web site, so I called them and ordered it over the phone.

FYI.. The gauges have a magnifier around therm to see if you break or touch the line of the next ring. When scoring a 10 bulls eye you get the X added to the score card if the you don't see any trace of the 10 line. (Obliterates it) If it touches the line of the next higher score, that is your score......177 and .22 are scored with the samne .22 guage...

I also ordered the heavy duty cards. I just have regular paper ones and the edges of the hole bend downwards a the gauge is pushed in and gives a bit higher score that what is actual. The heavy gauge paper will eliminate this I think.
