.25 (fx) sideshot mag with slugs fix 2

Ok so trying something else. Went shooting yesterday some NSA 36gr in .25 and was having misfeeds, would shoot a couple then flip one over. Would take the mag out and noticed when feeding the one in the hole would also clip slug 2 and flip it while feeding the first.

So added some PL premium glue to the pictured area let dry then shaped it basically added 1mm or so of material to keep the slug centered in the hole.

Shaped it with this

Now the slug is perfectly centered instead of being slightly more on the right side of the hole causing the probe to catch both slug backs.

In my opinion FX should change the outer casing to fix this issue (not centered), and make the ID of the outer perimeter slightly smaller so there's less slop. Wouldn't be insanely expensive "recall" as they can just supply the new part and change it yourself with a good Ernest video showing how to take the mag apart and assemble. Or send it in to an FX dealer most would DIY. IMO in at least .25. .22 possibly too as they're known to flip with short slugs I've heard.

*also fixes the won't shoot last shot in mag problem.

*use Jb weld instead

Great idea. I got a couple of the aluminum center wheels for my Side Shot magazines and they help a lot with slugs. however, the first round in every magazine never wants to chamber correctly, like you mentioned, it's not centered. I have to jiggle the side lever to get it to chamber, not a big deal but it kind of sucks! After the first round, the magazine runs smoothly but I'm definitely going to use your fix on my magazines. What kind of glue is that. I'm not familiar with it? Hard, flexible, quick dry??? Thanks, this is a great idea. Stoti

Follow up...So simple and so genius!!! I just used some Super Glue Gel becasue it's what I have here at the house. I put down a thin bead like you showed in your pictures, put it in front of a fan for a few minutes and just tried them out. Awesome! I don't know if the Super Glue Gel will be durable enough as much as these magazines get used but at least they work properly now. Awesome Glem, Awesome!

Thanks, Stoti

Glem,

Thank you, what a great idea. I used gel super glue last night and was worrying about it getting hard enough. I tried them yesterday and they worked well but I wanted them to work perfectly, so before bed I put a few more layers of superglue gel on top of the first layers. This morning it was dry but still a bit pliable. I used a round file to slowly shape it so the slugs fit just right. It is pure genius. The slugs work perfectly, from first to last! Sometimes I just kick myself that such easy fixes don't come to mind like this. Like I said, the magazine internals I have, help a lot but the first slugs never wanted to line up and chamber correctly. This solved that problem and I can't be more thankful. Awesome!!! Thanks!!!

Thats excellent Stoti glad to help. Heres how mine ended up after the round dremel stone. (Before cleaning up)

Wasnt my first try for a fix on these but glad its finally sorted. Pellets didn't have an issue other than not wanting to shoot the last shot for me. But slugs more often than not would just single load.
