I've just got one of these in .22. Mostly good, the main complaint I have is that it has no provision for open sights... therefore...
had to install a red-dot by UTG. Not that familiar with these, but after about a half a dozen shots, got it to group somewhat and at 20 paces off a rest, but not stabilized, seems to have settled in a fair grouping. Going to do some penetration testing if the rain stops between this and the Carnivore and possibly the .25 Torpedo. Otherwise... it's a real gun... has recoil beyond what some suggest, very smooth. Hefty gun, and doesn't exhibit the svelte nature of some guns like some of the Crossman and others. altogether...
Hope you enjoy it! I was going to get the synthetic stock version but I got tired of waiting so I spent the extra $80 on bought the wood version directly from Sig. I wonder how long that UTG scope will last for you. The ASP20 is a known scope killer. What pellets have you tried. Some like the AA 16 gr domes. I like the Sig Wraith alloy. They're listed as 12.35 gr but are 13.3 gr in reality. Accurate and hard hitting. Try those with a penetration test. The Sig Crux leads are also accurate. One thing I don't care for regarding loading the ASP20 is the tight pellet fit.
Agreed on the tight pellet fit. I think I'm use to it until I grab another gun. I guess it's ok, but i do have to seat it heavily with my thumb. I even bought the Sig pellets figuring they'd be a better fit. Not only weren't they a better fit, but the gun didn't really like them that much for me!
I too went with the wood stock, and even though I'm not a fan of the "black" stain, I think it fits the gun overall and have gotten quite use to it.
I love this gun, and if forced to choose onenof my guns I MIGHT choose this one. Although less accurate than my hw97, it hits harder. My diana 48 hits near as hard, but is SLIGHTLY less accurate for me right now. The hw80 is a great gun, but my sig hits harder and is more accurate. And my ruger is just a plinker although gets some great velocity to the pellets and usually hugs around 17 FPE. The trigger on the asp is great, although no rekord. Its better than my t05. Fit and finish of the gun is good overall.
The sig isnt the top of the heap in all categories, but it's high enough in all categories to make it a trusted gun for me.
