.20 recomandation

Hello everybody, I’m wanting a .20 cal springer. I’ve been into PCPs for a bit. Was shooting my Crosman .177 that is pushing around 17 yrs of age and has lost some power but still a hoot. So I’m wanting a springer again in .20 I’ve check cost I’m ok with it not going to be a daily shooter just want it for my collection. It needs to be quiet and accurate and power full enough for popping squirrels out to 60yd or so. Thanks in advance for all your all’s information.

.. the weirauch airguns are about the only way to even GET a new .20 caliber , anymore. especially since crosman quit making the sheridans , and webley dropped the 5mm valuemax .. in the piston gun realm , anyway .. i have had MANY 5mm airguns .. the factory-made diana model 48 magnum sidelever was the best , but it is a magnum and is heavy , and recoils harder + they are very hard to find .. diana made a few model 34's , a few model 45's , and a few model 48's around 2003-2004 .. the new .20 caliber favorite i have now is a .20 cal beeman r9 (or a 5mm hw model 95) with high output vortek pg2 tune kit .. i recently found an 'as new' unused .20 caliber beeman r9 with a 3-12x40ao bushnell banner mounted with sportsmatch rings .. everything in perfect condition with tags and and paperwork (everyhting but the original box) .. gunbroker.com for around $250 shipped .. i'll install am new tom gore r9 pg2 kit asap , which WILL enable one to take squirrels at 50+ yards .. and it's light and easy to cock and shoot , 17-18 ftlb medium springer with long range accuracy and very flat trajectory (both what .20 cal shines in) .. best with 5mm h&n ftt pellets .. forget about american .20 cal pellets unless they are cardboard box premiers (intended for field target) , or the rare red box sheridan pellets (especially the ones from west germany (h&n hammer pellets) .. the .20 jsb exacts are what makes my sheridans shoot like miracle guns .. the hw95 / beeman r9 air rifles shoot around 700 fps with those 11.42 grain ftt pellets , but the pg2 power kit produces 800-830 fps , which is damn good for smaller springer that's light enough to tote around and easier to hold the crosshair on that squirrel's nutsack shooting freehand .. with the diana 48 sidelever - 75-80 yard squirrel kills , but i did that from a bench while at an airgun shoot around here in ft.worth ten yrs ago .. here's some pics of the ones i have mentioned .. good luck .. lemme if you need more of this .20 cal experience i have accumilated over the yrs - pm me . - paul. ps: that .20 webley omega (which is actually a uk-made tomahawk made for the lower power australian market back around 2008) was a DREAM !! 777 fps constantly with 11.42 grain h&n ftt pellets (they are $20 / tin for a reason) .. ...... https://raneair.webs.com/20diana48.htm .....

I was at an air gun show last weekend and looked at every single last rifle there for a .20 cal springer. There were .20 cal Sheridans and Benjamins galore but very few .20cal springers...

I'm also interested in a .20 cal springer and a D48 is very tempting even if it gets relegated to bench shooting.

A shorter barreled, light weight break barrel is tempting too.

I ended up getting a vintage .177 D35 made back in the 60s at the show.

People, if you are interested in buying a used airgun, I highly recommend attending an air gun show.
