I am very sorry to hear of your financial woes, but remember this is just a hobby.
Years ago we were living on top of the world before it all came crashing down. A new baby, lost my job, and my wife contracted cancer all in a span of 4 months. We had used our immediate savings to pay for the baby, (no job= no insurance) then cashed in our IRA to pay for the cancer treatments. (still owed $300,000+) I sold everything I could. Boats, motorcycles, cars, shop machinery, guns, furniture. I never thought I would ever get out of debt and I would die on the job.
Fast forward 29 years and I'm retired and regained all those "toys" I lost before.
This pandemic will affect us all, we just need to remember what is really important in order to survive both physically and financially.
Today I have a fund for my hobbies, but I'm not spending it until our nation gets past this pandemic.
When I was working and wanted (not needed) something, I would save twice the amount and put half of it in the bank. Not only did it give us more financial stability and make the wife happy, but it made me rethink if I really want to work all that overtime for that new gun, fishing kit, etc.
I wish all good luck through these trying times. It will get darker before the dawn.
