2-fer + a trifecta

Great squirrel hunting today. The snow melted and it got into the 50s with sun and no wind. The tree rats were everywhere. Had 11 of them insight at one time. Could have limited out in the first 10 min. But I paced myself and made an afternoon out of it. Got to hunt with the new .25 Flashpup. My first shot was at a Black squirrel at about 7 yards. Missed him clean. Forgot to hold over. I blamed it on the new gun! I got a nice Grey at about 30 yards. He was perched on a stump eating an ear of corn. We just combined the corn field yesterday. The little buggers were picking up the cobs that didn’t make it in the bin. NOW the great shot. My first ever 2 for 1 squirrels with the air riffle. I was climbing down the creek bank to cross over to a set of Hickory trees. When these 2 Fox squirrels lined up side by side on a shelf of ice to get a drink. I was already in the bottom of the creek and they were about 20 yards downstream. The pellet went clean through the first squirrel’s head and nailed the second one too. Then I had this Black squirrel sitting on a log about 60 yards out. Aimed about an inch hi and knocked him off the log with another headshot. Picked up another Fox squirrel on the walk back to the truck. 2 for 1 and all 3 color phases. Not a bad day at all.
