Review of the AmericanAirArms .357 Slayer BullPup

Today I wanted to make a little video.

I was shooting the 160gr bullets that are proving very accurate and will be the Bullet for Wednesday hunt

Here's the video

"Nomadic Pirate"Well, I was hoping for the Modarator to chime in, or at least gimme an heads up with a PM,......but NADA, ho well.....
Hi Manny they are correct the reason why we don't want to see a list of all your airguns is because it detracts from the functionality of the search feature. For example your list of Evanix airguns has nothing to do with the AmericanAirArms Slayer. I thought I replied to this from my tablet, but alas I do not see it. We are not making an example out of you, this is a standard we set across the boards.

If you are copying and pasting the info from another forum all you have to do is: copy > paste > then go the bottom and delete the unwanted list. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Forgot earlier in the Review to show the Shroud/LDC set up.

Here it is, I'm so curious to see how quiet this guns will be in the Smaller calibers given that this 275 FPE beast is a purring cat

Also yesterday as I was shooting the gun down in preparation to ship it I was testing the AirMunition EPP 96gr and it was wickedly accurate.

the Slayer is looking like a non Picky beast

Ok than,

I had this gun for about a month now and the bottom line is that she is built as well as you'll expect a gun to be built,

From the materials to the attention to details to the mechanical functions,......I've shot quite a few of the very High end guns and this one is as good and better than any of those.

Still I can't get over how light the cocking action is for such a powerful gun, I can only imagine how fantastic it will be on the small bores and the sub 100 FPE guns, ......again that cocking action is just phenomenal, short, light, precise and crisp.

The Probe design just blows me away, so smart with the retractable section so there's no interference for the air to fight and the projectile harnesses the full energy inputted.

The magazine is built like a tank, solid metal and functions perfectly.

The Trigger is outstanding and it took me sometime to get used to it because it's soooo light and crisp.

Ergonomics and balance are top, the pistol grip and butt pad are just perfect IMO,

An other thing I still can't get over is how quiet for such a powerful gun this is,
again when the small bores come out they should be real, real quiet.

I love the no nonsense minimalistic design, no fluff just Business.

I've only shot at 50 yards and If I do my part the gun is a rugged hole with various ammo all day, on that subject, several indipendent well respected member of the community shot the Slayer at long range and reported incredible accuracy.

Also, again respected airgun community members had a look of the insides and reports on those part where incredibly positive, not something I can confirm but by the way the gun operates I have to doubts that the internals designs are again outstanding.

The only thing I really don't like about the gun is the absence of a barrel band, but I understand the philosophy behind it,
I for one will never buy a gun that lacks a barrel band, that's Just me being me

All I can say is when AmericanAirArms comes out with all the lines and calibers Western European and Eastern European Airgun makers will have an 100% true American made rifle that will give them a serious run for their money.

I personally would like to see the AmericanAirArms guns come out in 3 configurations,

The "Bullpup", the "Wood stock rifle" and a "Minimalistics rifle" using the same pistol grip and bottom rail and either a folding or removable Collapsible stock.

Thanks to Tom for giving me the opportunity to handle, shoot and hunt this true work of art of a Gun.

If you don't mind me asking... why such strong feelings regarding your rifles having a barrel band?

I'm pondering the benefits vs. the negative aspects. Is it because it provides support for the barrel to help reduce damage when walking through the woods? Is it support for a weak point? Most people comment on a rifle having a "free float barrel" for accuracy (I assuming this has something to do with consistent harmonics from shot-to-shot). Or not having a barrel band to eliminate a point where temperature change can change the POI. I can understand that one from a materials and thermodynamics standpoint, but wow, can people really notice a POI change due to a barrel band and temperature?

Please educate me on barrel bands. (Maybe this should be a new discussion topic, but your comment had me thinking about it.)

"Nomadic Pirate"Yep, the philosophy behind the Free floating is increased accuracy to which I'm fully behind if you are target shooting, in my case where I never target shoot but just hunt I rather have a barrel band because I really abuse my rifles, and there's tons of rifles out there with barrel bands that are supremely accurate.
Thanks for the response. That's what I thought. Thanks for the rifle review. I'm now following these rifles. Before your review I haven't even heard of them. Thanks again.

Keep an eye out for the .30 review, I think it will be a regulated gun but I'm not 100% sure
