I mostly only...use green and a few red dot sights on my guns. Read that old eyes, with an astigmatism to boot.
Try turning the intensity (brightness) down. It makes the "dot" appear smaller. I also only shoot indoors, with like I say, green and red dot sights. 2 moa dots work fine in low light, with the power turned down. It makes a big difference. Takes about two minutes to get used to the lower light power. I normally run my sights on #2 or #3 brightness.
Be wary of cheaper dot sights. The "dot" will end up MANY shapes...other than "round" dots !
There is also "holographic" projection, AND "reflex" projection. Many don't like the holographic projection, as the visual is fuzzy. The LED powered reflex design is much more popular, as the dot is much more solid color than a fuzzy, or not crisp dot.
Holosun (many to choose from), Trijicon (MRO) Leupold, Delta point Pro, are some of my favorites. The better designed sights use a 2moa (occasionally a 3moa) dot diameter.
Note, the Holosun brand is the best on battery life. Depending on which sight, they will run for 30,000hrs to 100,000hrs., of "on" time. Most of them now even have small solar cells on them to aid when the battery's are low or dead ! The Holosun also has two or three (the X2 versions) reticle to choose from, just by pushing the "down" button.. A dot, a circle with a dot, and just a circle.

P.s. - Meprolight has a "delta" or solid triangle sight that I also like (have two). You adjust the target to the upper tip of the triangle. That way the "dot" does not cover
any...if the target. They also use no...battery's to light the dot. They use either ambient light and or tritium to light the dot. Ready to go any time, yes, even in lower light, like indoors. They work great both indoors and out. Do some YouTube searching on them, pretty interesting sight.
