.177 populariy

177 is my fave cal of all.. I have a raw bm500 and a ds airwolf in 177...… to me if air guns get more powerful than that.. might as well go to a 22 rimfire.

177 is king of the air rifle world and now because of brute power.

I have owned rifles in .20 .22 AND .25 but the magic lies with the 177 due to low cost. very accurate limited range , noise, ect

I started in this game shunning the .177 cal a bit. It has become a favorite as of late. When I look at PCPs or even Springers these days, I look at .177 first. 

.177 gets pushed by the wind to much but for me but if you shoot FT you have a max of 20 FPE for steel targets it does make it easier being that the trajectory is flatter but the wind can give you hell

I'll take a mouse fart quiet 177 @12fpe for 40 yards and under all day long. Im quite fond of the caliber.

Love my .177 FX Wildcat MKII. My go to pest gun shooting the HN Baracuda Hunter at 910 FPS. I am thinking of getting a FX Dreamlte Compact in .177 to go alongside with it. 

Own more .177 than any other caliber ... Shoot .20 cal however the most often, plinking and competition !

My last 2 purchases were .177. 

HW30 and HW100BP-K.

Have to say 1.77 is my fav caliber, JSB heavy's 10.34g and the wind isn't so bad, they pack enough punch to dispatch most vermin easy with great accuracy. for target sovereign's are my choice or JSB exact 8.44gr 4.53 

Airwolf MCT and Redwolf love them.

Heck, even the .22s get moved about in very little wind. I just prefer the .22s for pesting and plinking though. The .177 are small for my mitts.

Really like .177 for close work on squirrels and birds. They seem to fly flat and use less air( pcp) and don’t disturb other critters upon impact when hunting pests. 

I am limited to shooting .177 caliber here in Denmark without a hunting license



I have plenty of power in my Daystate Red Wolf .177 HP Almost 40 FPE !! And very accurate

Thankfully we can own both and don’t have to choose! I own multiple rifles in .22, .177, and .25. I shoot the .22 and .177 rifles about equally as much. If I could only own one, it would be the .22, but I really enjoy my .177 rifles. I have my my eye on another one for my next purchase for my collection.

Out to 60 yards it is the .177 at the dairy farms I pest at, my favorite caliber by far. Always remember to choose the correct gun for the application and whittle through all of the hype of advertising. Most of all, have fun!

.177 is probably the most common in europe, because of law restriction on bigger calibers in most countries.

Until November/2019 here in Brazil the airgun calibers were limited to .177 , .22 and 6.0 and We had limitations in scopes size too (zoom maximmun . 6x and diameter 36mm).

Now all calibers are allowed and size of scopes too, but if you want a scope with night vision or thermal vision you need have a special license.

There has been more development of air rifles in .177 caliber and they are probably the most accurate within 50 yards. The latest craze for large calibers shooting slugs is crazy, unless you are a hunter. But for most of us, target shooting such as FT and BR, we use .177s due to power limitations. And for plinking? Calibers beyond .22 don't make much sense. While I own .25 and .30 cal rifles, I don't shoot them as much, unless shooting at long ranges from 75 to 100 yards. They are more expensive to shoot.

 Small block vs. big block,same argument,same results,each has it's place,some guys like bigger holes,some smaller.

I think what is happening is more guys are talking about bigger holes,it has become a more popular topic,that's all.

.177 will always be popular, many choices on pellets..and less cost....

I have a few .22's and nothing larger. No need for them in my shooting world but it is good that options exist. I have MANY .177's, for what such is worth. All such views on a topic such as this just seems to be personal opinion as .22 seems "too small" for some these days. Shoot what you like, or need, or think you need. All relative.
