.177 or .22 ? What to choose for my next springer 🤔

You may be able to use a lighter pellet but watch for what the manufacturer dictates as you could eventually damage your gun if it is to light. Also a lighter pellet may alleviate some of your trajectory problem at short to medium ranges but at longer ranges it will drop off more quickly than the heavy pellet because of the increased BC. I have both .177 and .22 spring guns and am happy with that. But I usually shoot my PCPs as they shoot so much flatter for so much further. Unless of course they run out of air and that's why I always have a springer with me. ;^)

I am wondering the same thing; another .22 or .177. 

I just recently bought a TX 200 in .22. Really like it. I’m also liking the HW77K Special Edition. I’m inclined to stay with .22 in case I want to vary rifles when squirrel hunting. I also think I don’t want to learn trajectories of two different calibers.

That was the reason behind the popularity of the .20 cal. Flatter trajectory of the .177cal with the impact of the .22 cal. Once the .25cal appeared the .22 cal filled that void and the .20 cal fell out of popularity. Hence, the lack of pellet choices for the .20 cal. I'd go for a .20 cal if more pellet choices were available.

what are you going to do more? hunting or target and at what range?

Im crazy on the .25 also own several .22 it depends what I'm doing if hunting I will almost always take a .25

I wish they made more .20 rifles.

Try .177, you might find that you prefer it, maybe not but at least YOU will know for yourself. It good to have a variety to choose from.

Good advice. I enjoy both .177 and .22 for obviously different reasons.
