.177 HW97 Maccari adjustable tune kit (chrono numbers added)

My original main spring broke around the 1300 pellet mark so it was a good excuse to get it detuned and have the trigger polished up. Bought a Maccari Adjustable tune kit and sent it and the gun off to the guy who was doing the work for me.
He polished everything thing up installed the kit along with needle bearing , reduced trigger spring, reworked the trigger and lubed everything up. It came in today and I mounted a scope on it and proceeded to get it sighted in and get pellets down it. Took a bit to get my form back and this thing is going to shoot lights out once it gets all settled in.

I didn’t shoot any over the chrono today but will tomorrow. The gentleman that did all the work said it was shooting 11.7FPE with 8.4gr pellets.

Then shot a 5 shot group at 50yds and 75yds. As you can see the wind picked up when I was shooting the 75yd plate.

Congrats! The hw97k is heavy, but the pay off is there in terms of accuracy. Mine is setup very similar to yours; full JM kit shooting at about 12fpe. After at least 10,000 pellets down the barrel, power has been consistent and accuracy remains excellent. One of my all time favorite spring guns.

Too me it’s light but I’m used to shooting a 19.6lb 22lr in NRL22/PRS22 matches.

Excellent shooting! I’m a big fan of Maccari products, I tried that kit in my 97KT .177 and just did not like the shot cycle with the barracuda FT’s which is the most accurate of the rifle. Glad it’s working out for you

So far the FT’s shoot the best. Every now and then the FTT’s shoot good groups but not as consistent as the FT’s. I’ve got some JSB heavies and some JSB RS on order and will try them.

It shot mid weight pellets great. FTT’s and 8.4’s had a great shot cycle and very decent accuracy. I tried it with all combinations of the preload washers and just didn’t feel “good” with the FT’s. It now has the full power kit with 1 coil removed and she’s shooting the FT’s at just under 13.5fpe and loving them. Good luck with the heavy pellets

I love the Macarri springs but I like the Vortek seals. These are a great combo. Mine started out a couple of ftlbs hotter than I wanted. I brought it down to 12.5fpe and I am really happy. It is shooting the H&N Trophy 8.64gr at between 800fpe and 816fpe. I thought that was a really tight spread for a springer. The gun will rival my PCP's at shorter distances. This is definetely a "leave it alone" gun now.

Ditto what austin870 said on ARH kit with Vortek seal plus Krytox GPL-205 lube. HW95L .22 chrono data. Rifle is very accurate.

Description: Benchmark for accurate rifle. One inch at 25 yards.

Notes 1: HW95L .22 cleaned barrel.

Notes 2: Partly cloudy. Very accurate, see pic next.

Interesting my HW97 is the only springer I hve which like the harder H&N pellet better than the JSB Exact 8.44. I wish the JSB Heavy 10.34 was near as consistant. The head size on the heavies is all over the place for years now. The 8.44's have been rock solid.

None of my other springers or PCP's like the harder H&N"s over the softer JSB's.

Same here, I’ve yet to have a JSB pellet shoot as good as the H&N pellets. Only other pellet that shoots constantly as good as the H&N pellets is the Polymag Shorts. Even though the JSB has the better SD and ES I just can’t get it to shoot as good. It will always throw one or two shots out of the group on 5 rd groups.
