Well, just popped another one. Took a body shot on purpose for a couple of reasons. Better margin of error as I was just braced on door and not as steady as I could be. Also wanted to specifically document the kill with a body shot. Hit a little high I think, was up ye ol Pecan tree. It was a solid hit, with a loud pop. It skirmished a bit for a yard to the top, and a yard to the left and then dropped DRT. So, don’t hesitate on a vitals shot if you can get one, it’s very effective. More details when I get back from my walk with the ball & chain 😄

I went back and forth on Hades also but in .25 caliber, also found basically no expansion at all! HOWEVER when I went back to dome pellets I have hard time finding exit wounds and they are just little pin holes. With Hades there is no question on which hole is entry and which one is exit, the exit holes are always bigger and bloody, even entry holes are obviously bigger. I even had one squirrel I shot too low had 2 inches of intestine hanging out. From just looking at the pellets I don't see any real advantage but judging from the entry and exit holes the Hades does WAY more damage, not even close. On squirrels with dome pellets I always get pass through at even 650FPS, 1/3 of the Hades would be found just under the skin at 650 FPS at the same weight. Needless to say I ordered more Hades in multiple calibers.



Judging from your pictures the .177 Hades did fantastic job.

My experience is just about like above but mostly with the .22 Hades they do not seem to expand much but do a lot more damage and I have recovered a few that tumbled they did a lot of damage. I have recently started shooting a 25 cal Veteran and it really whacks squirrels but it's almost twice the fpe as the original 22 rifle that I used shooting about 27 fpe. Definitely worth the more money for me and they shoot great out to about 75 yards which is plenty far for me as most of my shots are 15 to 30 yards might get one now and then out to 50 but that's a far piece for me.

OK. Here ya go. The pellet hit both lungs. Did not pass through. It stopped short of exiting subdural on the distal side of entry. Pellet showed very good deformation, albeit not a complete expansion, not bad, I’ll take it! Notice the severe hemorrhaging in the lungs. Lungs should be white and deflated otherwise. I’m pretty sure that the major vessels were impacted as well.

Now take the parts off of the squirrel, sew on to the chipmunk. Then at the next lightning strike set up an antenna tower to catch lightning bolts, well, you know where I’m going with this Dr Frankensteen....

All kidding aside, Christian, have you experimented with the Barracuda Hunter extremes yet? Or even the H&N crow magnums? I’m curious as to how the three compare to one another on expansion?
