.177 12fpe Spring Gun efficacy. (Update w/vitals shot)

Got this one just now with my LGV Master Pro in .177 using the JSB 10.34gr pellet at 15 or so yards. Shot placement was perfect, DRT, no questions asked. This gun’s accuracy is phenomenal. Have recently had a couple squirrels run off after shooting them with the same gun in .22, also very accurate, and more powerful. This .177 doesn’t play, vitals shot or head shot, no matter.

There's something to be said about penetration vs caliber of hole. I do believe that, at a certain point, the energy can be low enough that penetration is far more important. That can even be extrapolated to PB vs airguns. We rely on pellets/slugs to penetrate to vital organs, whereas PB use hydrostatic shock to a large degree. Which is why a PB rifle in .17 caliber can do as much, if not far more, damage than airguns can with a much larger caliber.

my hat off to PCP hunters who hunt with low power , I just started shooting a 12fpe 22 cal in my leshiy , It has opened up a whole new sport for me , where as you must be exact and they do well , I am still learning the trajectory curve of the 12fpe but I did pop a squirrel 60 yards with a 16 gr Hades and he dropped instantly . I was using a atn thermal , this is a tougher setup for 12fpe but it is deadly ,
