Tuning 1701p trigger transplant.

I just completed assembling two of the Crosman1701p triggers . One went into a 2300s the other in a complete rebuild of a 2240, going to a 3 screw breech from Alliance Hobby, a boss valve and Lothar Walther barrel. I did install new straight hammers into both. I had the same problem with both, when installling the trigger/grip frame the bolt would not cycle back and hammer would not cock. I had backed the two adjustment screws back on the hammer as directed and found that was hindering things. After adjusting them for for more contact with the trgger link it started working. I spent probably 5 hours on the two assembling, and installing. Honestly I have another that will probably go to my son, in which I had installed a Supersear along with a roller trigger and it has a better pull than these 1701p triggers.

Yes, the SuperSears and roller triggers are great! But if one does not want to spend the funds on a roller trigger a hole can be drilled in the top of the brass trigger blade, at it's highest point, and a ball bearing, from a safety, epoxied in. This will leave a small hard surface for the sear ride on. Combined with a little polishing on the SuperSear, where it mates to the bearing, will make for a light buttery smooth trigger pull. Although one may still need a couple of spacers to keep the trigger wobble to a minimum.
