1701P Silhouette PCP Pistol

Really a great little pistol and a superb platform to build on. The triggers can be worked into something pretty decent when compared to the older Crosman triggers. You can install a Marauder rifle trigger assembly and make a neat stock for it and it will become a nice carbine. You can even fit the Crosman Challenger barrel(L/W) to it. Fun gun to play with. I think I have 6 of them but only one in original configuration.

Nice, enjoyable, PCP target pistol that is very customizable. Has the same trigger as the Prod(Marauder Pistol) and same frame as a Crosman 2240. So any custom grips or carbine stock that fit a 2240 will fit the 1701P. It will shoot a Crosman wadcutter as accurately as any JSB or H&N pellet. The pistol is very tunable exteriorly (hammer spring and trigger) and has a steel breech with 11mm rail. I've had mine for years with never a hiccup.

Outstanding pistol! Nothing else can touch it for the money. W/scope and shooting off a flat bag I was easily able to hit Fly's at 50 yards , shocked me , something around 540fps from the box. A little DIY work and I like the trigger as much as an FX Rancharo. very solid rig, easy to work on ( never needed to ) , and, can actually be handled like a pistol - unlike the 1720T which is great BUT a better carbine than pistol.

Maybe some numbers & a picture here"

EDIT - Link worked, now seems dead, trying to ad pic of Crosman SSP & 1701P

It actually balances nicely in hand and was designed for Silhouette shooting, which is all free hand. I put a set of 2240 target grips and Burris Elite pistol scope on mine. The weight of the air pistol steadies the hold, but I usually shoot it sitting down off my knee or off of shooting bag.

It is backyard friendly if that is an issue being more of a target pistol than a hunter. I tuned mine to about 600 fps with 7.9g wad cutters, which shoots relatively flat but doesn't produce enough fpe to hunt with (not its intended purpose) humanely , although some folks do crank it up and do just that. I think you can see from these posts that it is highly recommended and that you will not be disappointed.

My intent is strictly a target pistol, right down to having some 10 meter goals (like get the shots in the black, maybe bulls-eye later). depending on pellets, I may tune it down to the 450 range for accuracy and air efficiency. Whatever shoots the best.

Need to make a decision today, as tomorrow is Crosman's free shipping Friday (if that's still going on). Using the 25% off coupon from the banner above and free shipping should get met the gun and the rear sights for a bit under $315. The carbine stock is another $22.50, and even though I plan on target shooting, I'll buy the stock.

That's just about what I spent on my Browning .22 pistol a few years ago. That's loads of fun to shoot, but not allowed in the back yard. The air gun is.

All positive reviews, now I just need to make a decision to pull the trigger and buy (pun intended)

Pulled the trigger and bought the gun this morning.

Total cost of the gun, and LPA rear sights, $311.00. Used the AGNATION discount code for the $25% discount, saved over $100. Saved about $16 on shipping by ordering on Friday. Bought the carbine stock off eBay for $21.00 using a gift card my son gave me.

Can hardly wait to install the sights and air it up. I have lots and lots of .177 pellets to break it in!

Thanks all that commented. Not a single bad review so I thought it's a fairly safe bet on the gun.

The Silhouette arrived last night. Installed the open sights, It had a little air in the cylinder, so cocked and fired a couple times (no pellets, that's tonight if I get time.

Gun is heavy for a pistol, so it'll take some effort to learn to control it. Trigger feels good, so now I just need to fire those 2000 wad cutter pellets I have to break it in.

Also, bought the shoulder stock. It'll be interesting to try it out as a carbine.
