15gr JSBs

Well, that gives me a little hope! I ran some through my chrono, and with the tune that I had set on my Leshiy for the 18gr (935fps), these came out at 980. I turned it up one HST click for fun and got a consistent 996.

I don't know if high speeds for these lighter pellets will translate to better accuracy or not, but here is what I know to be true for my 350mm (+ Huma reg) setup: the 18gr JSBs shoot like crap between 820 and 900. ~925-935 is the sweet spot that I have found for those.

I also turned my reg down to 118bar and did some chrono tests, 946fps on the top end - but I don't want to waste a lot of time benchmarking this ammo, until I can see how it does at longer ranges. I wouldn't mind using it for paper, if it can't hit at least 125y (18gr do this fine in my Leshiy), then I'll probably just sell the unopened tins.

P.S. @ChuckHunter, that's funny - 45fps is the exact difference between the 15gr and 18gr pellets in my gun! 😎

You might be surprised by the 15.9 grain JSB Exacts. I until a couple months ago by default shot the 18.1s in all my .22s.

I was in the process of setting up my .22 FX Crown for Benchrest. Was shooting at 50 yards, shooting groups. Very good groups with the 18.1s, under 1/2 inch consistently at 900 FPS.

Then I remembered a tin of the 15.9 Exacts that my buddy Nick had given me, so I thought what the heck. And proceeded to literally stack pellets at 50 yards and 945 to 950 FPS. Quarter inch groups were the order of the day. So I ordered four tins from Pyramyd Air.

Well, just shot my first 25M benchrest this past Sunday with the 15.9 Exact/FX Crown and shot 244-243-243, 730 in windy conditions, especially the last card. It was so windy on the last card that halfway through the card my wind flag blew over...

Moral of the story is try out various pellets and see what your gun likes best, you just might be pleasantly surprised...

Nice! I saw your thread the other day, but I didn't realize that you were shooting those.

The weekend can't get here fast enough. We have had quite a bit of gusty winds this week, but it's supposed to tame down to a lighter breeze by Saturday. I hadn't notice any POI shifts at 50y when I had the 18gr set to 935. The flight time was quick at that range, and the consistent quarter to dime sized groups got boring with the quickness.

I'll see how closely these stack up to the 18gr's, and how they perform out of my gun with a breeze. I have another easy 50-60fps that I can turn it up to if I need it with these lighter guys 😎

That Is pretty funny!

And I'm just amazed at the power of that little leshiy. I've been looking at them and think it would make a great out the truck window shooter!!! Lol.

It's small and powerful enough for the job! The reloading / cocking effort isn't too bad in my Jeep but Ed (I think it was him) had a video a few years back where he was driving a car somewhere out in the country.. he stopped, pulled out his Leshiy, and nailed a mockingbird that was in a big tree ~75-100y out. I thought to myself, damn - that would make for a good little gun to stash in my vehicle! Little did I realize at the time just how versatile it actually was.

Sighter plus 5 shot group. Note the velocity and range. Yes it was a fair day:

Have shot rabbits to 152 yards with the 15.9 gr JSB from just 880 fps.

Give them a go. Kind regards , Harry.

Amazing, Harry!!! You can't get much better than those results at >150y :)

Man, these 15gr JSBs did not shoot well for me today. I'm also noticing random, inconsistent speeds over my chrono, where 3 out of 5 will be the same speed, one will be +/-10fps, and at least one of the others will deviate by +15/-20fps.

The 18gr shot better out of my gun the last time, but I would get a flier every 5th or 6th shot. Sadly, I spent so much time power tuning the 18gr's, that i have no clue what the speed consistency / deviation is.

I do know that the 25gr JSBs were typically never higher than 5fps deviation any time I ran strings with a particular (static) tune. I suppose that I should get the 350mm .25 barrel back in there to rule out other things before I dive in deeper with the .22 configuration 😡

Its sending them out at about 870 fps

I went back out over the weekend, after tearing down, cleaning, re-lubing, and replacing a some o-rings in my Huma reg - along with my standard barrel cleaning procedure. I tested with speeds between 750 - 960, and found that the 915-930fps range yielded me the most consistency. The wind was lighter, but it was still present (between 3 -9mph, with some gusts before sunset - typical for the mountains here).

I shot a few decent groups at 50y and 100y. I had two more targets setup at 150y and 200y, and was seeing about the same deviation at the longer ranges as the shorter ranges. I was actually surprised that my Leshiy was stretching out to 200y - the problem there was that the damn sun was beaming from right behind my 200y target, which was also mostly white (with black splatter circle targets). I had to setup one of my traps as a sunshade, so it was just very difficult shooting all around that day.
