The wind is barely dying down.

Great time of day!!’ The wind was very contrary yesterday evening and I ended up using all of my ammo in vain . I set my target up at 270yards 😜🤣😂🤣 . Silly me I should have known better 😝. It was a crapshoot!!’

Never the less Simo Hayha 🤣😂🤣(my son) went to trying to hit a water bottle at 172 yards! He uses a Gamo urban with a tactical rim fire scope (3x7) it has three small circles below the center of the reticle.

Although he never hit he was smiling and told me “ these things are accurate!!’”. I started looking through the scope and he sure was all on it. Shooting offhand he was fighting the wind which never went away but for a short time.

I really was disappointed with my crapshoot so I decided to to a little testing at 30 yards. I shot the first five shot group and it was not as bad as YOURS 😜Jim but still horrendous too🤣😂🤣. Lol dang crappy cbd slugs🤣😂🤣😂. So I backed the hammer spring Tension screw out 1/2 of the turn and took a little boogie out of it. Got to have the right amount of boogie behind the bullet!

😮 wow another five shot group but right under in size. The first was over 3 1/2 “ and the second was under 2 1/2” from there I began backing it down and then all of the way up again.

I noticed that when filling the gun to 250 Bar it acted Squirrley until around 200 . 875 ft./s and right around is where my groups started closing up.

I did not settle in 100% but again see results that are promising . If the Lord is willing I will do some more testing very soon. The five shot group in the middle that is three shots right next to each other graduating in height moving to the right with one hole above them where the slug hit the same spot twice is the best that I did . I only measured a few and i’ll measure a few more for reference purposes , this gun Capable of shooting same hole all day long. I don’t need to measure to know if it’s doing that . 😜Y’all have a good one! y’all have a good one

Hallelujah!!! 🔥🔥🔥 I hope all who read this are well and swell! , hope everything is copacetic, up to snuff and good enough!!!

I've been very busy working in the field and the shop keeping things moving. Trying to get my groups tighter, and working on another die. I’ve been all over the spectrum concerning speed and regulator pressures. Enough to figure out that I needed to make other changes . Hence a new die! After adjusting the regulator for the final test ( hundreds of slugs) it just dawned on me one morning. I looked at a projectile and thought it was too pointy, too long in the front and needed more body( flat area/skirt). So of course I set my mind to get another die made.

The new die is @.218” with a few other changes or “tweaks” to things. The hollow Point pin for the first slug is .078” , the new HP is .100”. The length went from .373” down to .342”

I haven’t taken any photos of the groupings I was getting with the new profile but it really is an improvement. My best group with the first projectiles was under 1.25” and what I saw with the modified slug was better. At speeds from 750 FPS to 938 FPS I had a big ole grin on my chin!!!⚡⚡⚡💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥. I was able to check those speeds and a few in between without even moving the HST!!! 😂 lol 😂 . I tore my gun down three more times trying to figure out what was going on ( thank god for my “regulator puller”) . I thought my reg

was trash but it turned out to be fine. It is though the gun cannot maintain a consistent speed with the .218”’s. It will shoot a few shots at 750, jump up to 850 back down to 750, then up to 938... etc. etc. etc. I did test the pellets and they always maintained consistency, I’d shoot a five shot slug group and then a pellet group alternating between on the same fill and regulator setting . Only inconsistent with the .218”’s, but only the speed. If it was three shots at 750 then all the same poi. Same thing for all speeds.

Nevertheless, the train kept a rollin all night long! I’m on my way. Keep the grease hot, I’m right around the corner! 🤣😂🤣😂 the new new is working great with my makeshift setup. When I first ordered my “My first bullet maker starter kit” from The back of boys life magazine It didn’t tell me that it didn’t come with the press🤔😜. So I improvised using my sine vise and dial indicator to precisely press each slug into a projectile (25-30 seconds per slug inspected RTS) , to now swaging them with the lathe (10-15 seconds RTS) . I put the punch/ swage in the chuck and use the tail stock to apply pressure to the die. Btw that’s pronounced “ sweging “ on my side of the barbed wire fence. Lol 😂 I love you all no matter your accent!!! I just thought it was humorous😜. But anyway I do have a press in the works and lord willing it will be coming along shortly.

Also I really do appreciate the feedback and information that has been given. It is definitely encouraging!!!

Howdy Jim, I do , it seems pretty noticeable anyway from my perspective. The sound is actually what I noticed first being behind the gun not watching the Chrony. It’s just a low priced little crony I found somewhere on the web “ Emersongear E7900” It came from amazon and is metric only, but seems to work as a good reference for certain. Anytime it does have a funny reading it’s displayed as “2E” so I kind of ruled that out.

👍

but you do have me thinking Jim, and it won’t hurt to further investigate . The only thing I can assume is that the larger diameter with the expansion on the skirt is just too much and is causing excessive drag . I don’t really know because the instruction manual was also missing from the kit🤣. It was acting very strange for sure. But like I said only with the slugs, it shot the pellets with the utmost consistency. I tested again and again to make sure. I wonder if anyone else has ever experienced these types of regulator irregularities under similar conditions?

Pellets or slugs? This Crosman is .2215” I could call it .221” or .222” . Close enough to perfect for me. It’s only one half of a thousandth. From one measuring device to another that can change . The slugs you tested are 1/2 a .000” smaller than.217” .2165” . In my opinion that half could be lost in the mail , your mic’s might be cold and the other guys might be hot. The difference between the temperature yesterday purses last night in the middle of the morning could even cause that difference. I don’t know anything about your preconceptions but it’s never too late to learn new tricks😜lol you have a good one!

Oh my oh my oh my I can’t even begin to talk anything pellets or projectiles until I learn more about the Dunning Kruger effect and my place in it 😝🤪Lol.

That’s deep man! Cognitive bias!!! Illusory superiority!!! But meta cognition is where it’s at!!!🔥🔥🔥 Can’t go wrong thinkin about thinkin! Ok ok ok🤓🧐🤔 shoot what works best and “Shoot’em Good” . I do have a die in .222” , you could always get a ramrod and muzzle load if they’re too tight for the breach🤣. But seriously I think a pellet that’s .221” will be a lot more forgiving traveling the length of the barrel if it was slightly undersized versus a slug of the same diameter in the same slightly undersized barrel. Being solid the slug does not have the flexibility of being swaged down as easily as the diabolo pellet. Or expanding to fit the barrel If the conditions are reversed.

So I would not think so just generally speaking ,but don’t you think it can really only be determined on an individual basis? What if your barrel is .222”? A .221” slug might work perfectly. I can’t say.

It would be nice if there was info available on the optimal interference fit for barrels and projectiles as a standard . Say for example 1.5 thousandths smaller and your the shot caller!!! But then again regardless of the fit you would not have the same results at 750fps vs 950 fps so go figure. Literally!
