14.3 grain “Me” K slugs

That is the Kral puncher breaker at around 42 fpe with the Seneca 28.5 g domed pellet. The gun has been back for repair and a little fine tuning once. It is well broken in and is my go-to for every day pest control. It is short enough to shoot from my truck and from the ATV. I am zeroed at 50 yards and have it topped with a 4-12 x 44mm ffp. I don't click for elevation. My longest score to date is 122 yards on a ground squirrel.

Jim , I did happen to read what Michael posted regarding D-Rig And did think of the situation when you mentioned to let y’all know when I have dies for sale. I thought that I simply just would not acknowledge it at that point but now here we are!

I only started this thread because I think others might enjoy seeing what I’m experimenting with. Like I said not all guns are created equal!😝. Exploring the possibilities of lightweight high bc projectiles that lower power guns can push is what it’s about.

I didn’t become a citizen of this great Air gun Nation for profit but I definitely am always open to making money!

I respect the forum rules and guidelines and in no way wish to try and circumvent the “LAW” I’m not being smart . I have no problem seeking permission or whatever is necessary if opportunity for profit arises o this forum.

This is an awesome site with lots of awesome citizens.and I imagine someone might be making some money from it. Like in any nation. I think it’s a business, “ pro rated refund “ when acct is suspended ( saw that in the laws) I’m guessing the guys who advertise here pay for it and rightly so.

When I have Weldors sub for me or I sub for someone I expect that they won’t pass out cards or solicit business on my job site and I don’t do it to them. Ain’t that sorry if I hire a guy and he’s trying to take away from my business?

I think I understood exactly what was going on when I read Michael’s response to “where’s D-Rig” but thats none of my business. All I can do is take it for face value as I know only what was posted.

Here’s what I’ve got going on! Some C.B.D. HB HP Spitzers. Lol that’s the ridiculously long abbreviated name I put in the StrelokPro this evening.

I took a couple soda cans and a tomato paste can . I didn’t even bother for the soda cans I went straight for the shiny lil tiny one. It ranged at 217 yards. The wind was as it always seems to be up on that hill. It said 8 mph for the town that my address is attached to( I’m out in the county) , but it was at about 12-15 . Who cares? Lol 😂 I was holding over 3-17 . I only had a few minutes and a few mags. I loaded the last mag shot one and thought, “ instead of just telling how close and how I could see the dirt flying so so close, let me put a box behind my tomato paste can so anyone can see. I only had nine shots left and this is how it went.

Good evening AGN! I took the slugs out a little further this evening. Out to 250 yards!

I only took a hundred slugs and we divided those between my Taipan, a Benjamin Armada, and two Gamo Urbans. I have noticed that the Guns are all a bit quieter with the slugs vs pellets.

I very impressed with what I saw this evening! My 17 and 15 year old were amazed that they were reaching out like that and so close to hitting the can! The 15 year old has a Gamo urban and a Nikon tactical rimfire scope (3x7) and had me literally cheering him on!!! He didn’t hit but was so impressively close I could not contain myself! The 17 year old did the same thing with his armada. He has a bushnell engage 6x18. SO SO CLOSE. Enough for them to realize and tell me “ wow these really shoot good” “ I can’t believe it” . By the time the 12 yr old was up it was getting to dim to spot. So we called it quits.

Understand that the armada is regulated but not very well. The Gamo is not regulated but has what ive read was referred to as a self regulating valve due to its efficiency. I’m only going by what I’ve read and my personal experiences with it. It’s a great consistent gun. I said that to say that I was calling there shots as I saw them and from the start the were steady losing velocity/elevation . Nevertheless they were right under the target, really impressive.

If the lord is willing I’ll get out again tomorrow and test some more. I’ll try and set my GoPro up and get video.

Good evening again and again good evenin AGN citizens and those on the other side of the fence ! I hope all is well across the plane .

I went out for about 15 minutes and took 14 HPPs (High Performance Projectiles) , to log a little more flight time.

I dialed the “kill wheel” on the Taipan and let em rip tater chip! The first looked like it was only an inch or two the left , the second hit the cap, and the rest were all near misses, acting as they should! Once again I certainly am not disappointed!!! As another member stated, he understands that these projectlies are in the “alpha testing stage” “ experimental “ but I am telling you I think they are awesome!

I sent him a hundred to test in his guns, and hope that he too will be able to see good results.

I will try and get some video next time we go out.

If the lord is willing I will swage up a shipload this weekend for some of y’all to try out for yourselves.

BTW I’m dialing at almost 30 yards under where the turret tape is calibrated for the Crosman’s , same weight better BC . And when shooting this distance with pellets I’m having to dial 14 MOA and hold the 20 some odd for like windage. When I shimmed the UTG quick detach scope rings i lost windage adjustment and can’t dial fully in that direction after re zeroing.

Oh yea I included the .223/5.56 picture because that was my original design inspiration.

Y’all have a good’un!

Thanks bones! Lol it’s precison lobbing at this point 😜. But now that I think about it I’m not certain ,I believe lobbing is defined as a soft arcing shot and in no way am I soft arcing anything ,I’ve got a hard-hitting, air powered hammer 🔨! L ol 🤪🤣😂. Seriously though, at 14 grains and the current velocity it’s 13’ @ 250 yards (StrelokPro shows 164” elevation) 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 . Somewhere over the rainbow some feral baby soup cans are in big trouble!

Anyhow another member and I were communicating yesterday evening and unfortunately with the hundred that I sent him the preliminary close range results were horrendous! I know for a fact that his shooting skills are excellent (👀 I got eyes to see) so that’s a variable or factor we can eliminate. He gave me some excellent honest feedback! He was able to go into great detail with multiple guns having different power levels to choose from. He even did water expansion testing!!! Maybe he’ll chime in and share his results.

The fact that I am seeing the results I am seeing in my gun does not change the fact that I am experimenting . The projectiles are unproven and still undergoing slight changes as I learn from information gathered and processed. When said tester showed me the pictures of his recovered slugs not making good contact with the “ lands and grooves “ , I knew that they were doomed from the start! If it’s too loose it will not load straight. Even a few thousandths of variation is all it takes for inconsistency. If you do something the same way every time you will get the same results this is a proven law of nature , a fact of life we all know! And Loading a projectile different each time due to a sloppy fit in the barrel will produce different results each time. So as I was communicating with him, I was actually out in my shop swaging. And I thought that that a projectile that is loose, not making a whole lot of contact on the rifling, could make up for it simply by being longer. More rifling engagement through surface area not depth. At that point I changed the spacing on the H.P., I made it deeper, taking up more space in the die, displacing material , that has nowhere to go but to the rear, causing the flat/ skirt of the projectile to grow in length🙀

I am trying to adapt a known projectile shape from the powder burning world to work in my air rifle. Or yours or anyone’s for that matter. The results I have seen thus far lead me to believe that with a little refinement I can achieve the accuracy desired. Of course I know that i am only subjecting myself to harsher conditions to overcome with a 14.3 grain piece of lead at long distances and sometimes unpredictable wind, but I’m still having fun! Hope you are too!

Here’s a Screenshot of the StrelokPro showing the elevation.

Again thanks for the kind words and encouragement Bones.

If the Lord is willing I can get some of these in your hands ASAP and maybe you too can contribute some input.

C_B, thanks for the kind words. I do enjoy playing around with new stuff and I accidently learn a lot at the same time.

I tested his alpha slugs in my P-rod, my Flash QE and my Kral Puncher Breaker. I understand the Puncher Breaker has a choked barrel and the prevailing thought is that choked barrels do not like slugs. The Marmot Millitia barrel on the Prod is not happy with the alpha either. I tested from 14 fpe to 42 fpe. From the recoverd slugs, we determined that the barrels are too large for this design. I can see the marks on the slugs, but can barely feel them with a finger nail. The marks are only on the last 1/16"o the slug. Slightly loose and a very small contact patch meant some truly wild pitches were thrown. The goats and sheep were not impressed when I send a few through their pens, rather than into the backstop. Due to neighborhood, I ceased testing on targets and moved to the bucket. Yes, these slugs to pack a pop!

Here is a photo

the tight group is 6x Hades from the flash QE. The out side bunch were the best in could do with the alpha slugs. Both shot from 38 yards.

We will keep at it as long as C_B wants to.. I know that slugs are a hit and miss game with out guns that are not built for them. The answer is out there... I believe.

Shoot'em good fellas!.

Jim I appreciate the help testing and the awesome input that you gave me. like I told you , when I tried to shoot into my 5 gallon bucket with the slugs I had purchased it went all the way through the bottom . 🥴 So until you mentioned water expansion testing it really never occurred to me that Water would cause a hollow point to expand. The only reason I ever did it in the past was to see relationship between the slug and barrel... the consummation of lead and steel.

So with your help I figured out I could get a little higher, up on a ladder, and do my own “ W.E.T.” water expansion test . But since you’re from New Mexico I thought I would call it a New Mexican Water Expansion Test .😜🤣😂😂🤣

another thing I learned when trying one out in a 2389 backpacker (20 pumps) is that the flattened skirt may be from the probe not fully seating the slug. It’s not pushed in fully and the blast from the transfer port just crushes it .

Here are the results! 14.3 gn @938 FPS ,26ft. Lbs 3’ from muzzle to water.
