💀 What I did this morning between two bowls of cereal.... 🔺

So, I get up this morning and hear a knocking noise in the kitchen.
Maybe the coffee maker? — Nah, it's still empty and off.
Maybe the wind blowing something that keeps knowing against our paper-thin walls? — But... it comes from within.... 😱

Could it be a rat? Well, with the garbage practices common in my Latin-American city of 10 million people, quite possible.... In fact, my wife watched one scampering around our main entrance last week! And I missed the shot (really need a laser sight for those close encounters....).

Well, I thought to myself, better safe than sorry. — Better a dead rat than no rat. — Better set up some rat traps!

Said and done.

Then it was time for some breakfast.
I was just finishing up my first bowl of cereal.
And a metallic snapping noise interrupts my morning routine!!

Gott'a check.... Oh noooo!! 🙄

Like it has happened to me several times in the past, the kill technology of these rat traps has proven to NOT be up to snuff for these metropolitan rats:

Trap snapped — cheese gone — rat gone.

And that was good cheese!

I sit back down.
And again a noise. Critter noise. What now?!?
Up again, and there is the rat, size M, city type, gray office suit, stunned from getting a glancing hit by the rat trap, and rather disoriented, boxed in by the garbage can and a counter.

NOW WHAT?!?
Beat it to death with a broom stick? ➔ No room to hit.

•Throw hot water on the rat? ➔ Takes to long to boil.

•Bore it to death with stupid commercials? ➔ That's unethical.

•Talk the rat to death? ➔ The politicians are already doing that, again: unethical.

WAIT! I still haven't sold my very first air pistol, a Benjamin Trail .177 break barrel. Just never took the time to post a WTS.

I race up the stairs. WHERE did I put this thing?! — THERE!

Now, ammo, I need AMMO!!

But I quit using .177 ammo years ago.

WHERE did I store the left-over pellets?!?

Rummaging through several shelves I hunt one down.

Double down the stairs, gun in hand, to rid my home of the intruder!

If you asked my family they would have to admit that Matthias running through the house with some kind of gun in hand is not an uncommon sight....

The rat's still there, still stunned. Still trying to figure out what's happened, and trying to find the tiny exit through which it had came in....

"Well, Mrs. Rattus, you caught me on a good day:

"Sure I'll help you find the EXIT, you dirty rat!!

"A JSB Express at 4FPE will be your guide.

"Just follow the bright light. Lead will lead the way."

And the lead did.

🔴 And turned everything red. 🔴

Time for a second bowl of cereal. I earned it.

Matthias

PS: I really don't like the Benjamin Trail pistol: Unless the shooter is The Incredible Hulk, he'd need TWO fingers to pull the trigger!

But, when in a pinch — a pinch being a rat, or pigeon, or HOSP entering the premises — a 4FPE pistol certainly keeps the walls and furniture in better shape than my 15FPE PP700 pistol....

❓ Maybe someone has a magic mod to easily reduce the required trigger pull by 90%....?
