Match report for April 24, 2022.

So after a long winter and wet spring up until now, we were finally blessed with some good weather for 🌳Sherwood Airgunners🌳first match of the 2022 season. We had 22 shooters enjoying the sunny, windy day where temps soared to the low 80's. Although the sun and warm temps made shooting FT enjoyable the tricky winds were very unpredictable with sustained gusts that kept our windacators nearly horizontal at times. Not only was the gusts strong at times they also played havoc switching directions fairly often. This combined with no fulliage in the woods made the winds that much worse than normal in my opinion.

The course was set to a 31.85 Troyer rating before winds or other factors were put into play and 11 targets were set over 40 yds. Everyone I talked to enjoyed the course and the challenging winds. The shooters that shot well today definately earned it. We did have one shooter Mike Campailla have a scope failure and did not finish the course...sorry for your bad luck today Mike. As the shooters finished the course and made their way to the club house, I was very curious to see how people shot in these challenging winds.

Our most popular FT division Hunter PCP with 13 shooters today was won by Jeff Little shooting his Daystate Red Wolf/Sightron combo for a 54. Jeff is no stranger to the top spot on the podium and he earned it today. Not far behind was Doug Cunningham also shooting a Daystate Red Wolf/Sightron for a very respectable 49. Doug made a big step last season and looks like he will be no stranger again for the top spots. Another Daystate Red Wolf/Sightron shooter Jeff Swartz was 3rd only one shot behind Doug with a 48. Looks like these 3 have something figured out when it comes to equipment 🤔

Hunter Piston had the second most competitors today and Dan Putz showed once again he's a forced to be reckoned with. Dan absolutely crushed it shooting a 48 with a Springer in these winds. In second was another well known Springer shooter at Bench Rest Al Duster. Al shot a 28 and is still working on his FT skills. 3rd place was won by another piston vet Eric Jones who shot a 26. I'll just say I'm glad I wasn't shooting a piston gun today!

In WFTF PCP we had a lone shooter Lucas Marusiak who shot a 48. Definately a decent score for today's course for someone that is just getting comfortable shooting a 12ft lb rig...nice job Lucas!

Another one shooter division Open PCP (yours truly) Keith Walters shot a 54 getting use to his new Thomas.

We had 2 shooters shoot Hunter Unlimited PCP which is unlimited scope magnification using shooting sticks. Tim Baylor bested Rick Smelko for the Match High Score in this category which is not recognized by AFTA. Tim shot a Steyr LG 110 for a 55 at today's match with Rick shooting a Brocock Bantam and was right behind with 54.

We did have 2 new FT shooters at today's match Robert Steele and Don Tolbert! Keep at it guys it definitely gets better as you shoot more matches.

Ending this I just want to thank the 🌳Sherwood Airgunners 🌳 crew for doing a great job getting the course ready after a long winter and want to thank everyone who attended for your support. I apologize for not knowing everyone's equipment..I did not have a list and was just going off memory...forgive a brother if I screwed that up. Lastly keep Carl Lucas in your thoughts and prayers as he recovers from some recent health problems 🙏🏼.
