Zeroing Pulsar Thermion XQ50 LRF on an Evol

It seems that I quickly ran out of elevation when zeroing this scope in this rifle from 25 yards out. Anyone encounter this issue? Does the scope look to high above the note to any of you? The instructions say to mount it as close to the bore as possible. I used high rings because the magazine has to clear the bottom of scope in order to load the gun.

Now I realize that one solution might be to use adjustable rings (e.g. FX No Limit rings). The problem there is that I want repeatable accuracy. So if I move this scope to another rifle, once I move it back to the Evol I don’t know how to set the rings back to the exact settings used previously.

Dave,

I have had this problem with just about all my digital/thermal scopes. I use the eaglevision adjustable rings on all my digital scopes with a traditional scope form factor. Then I adjust the elevation so I’m never past single digits on the elevation or windage.

I have to re-zero going from one gun to another but that’s much easier on my wallet than buying more scopes!

Agreed. I take my micrometer and measure where the spaces are in the mount - front and rear. I mostly adjust just one or the other dependinging on the railing of the gun it's going on. Not real accurate as I have a cheap micrometer that I have to eyeball insted of using the calipers. Then when I switch rifles, I put it on with the angle I measured and then re-zero the scope (which I do anytime I travel due to movement!). Then switch the profile, of course.

Scope movement has always been a PITA to me and it seems the digital which should be easier, add a bit more work to the process.

I have some adjustable rings en route. When they arrive I may remount this scope if it hasn’t found a more suitable home within the current mounts. Having to make special adjustments to my mounts or having to buy specific mounts for certain airguns is a PITA especially since I have my figured out a way to notate the adjustments made which would make repeatability smooth and less time consuming.
