Umarex Zelos bottle mod

Considering a Zelos as my first PCP but I don't like the aesthetics and would like more shots anyway. Couple of questions.

1) I know several people do or have made bottle conversions but what's the current best option in terms of quality and cost ? Should I get the adapter from a reputable source then get an e-bay bottle ? Thinking CF bottle instead of aluminum for weight reasons.

2) I'm thing a smaller bottle, 400cc maybe less. What can I expect in terms of weight gain ? I'm after high shot count and low weight. I'm thinking that a bottle option, even a smaller one, might allow enough air to move up to .25 cal.

3) Should I just buy a bottled gun instead ? I see the Snowpeak M60B is exactly what I'm trying to do but AAF's site notes 55% price increase due to tarrifs. Am I reading that right ? I really like what the FX Dreamlite bottle offers but it's significantly more expensive and getting hard to find for some reason.

Sorry for re-hashing Zelos stuff that is in other threads - I've read most of them - but most seem to deal with very large bottles which is not what I'm after. I know much of this is subjective but I'm open to opinions from you experienced folks.

Thanks.

Zelis/M60 bottle conversion is $50 for the adapter plus bottle. If you go with the carbon fiber bottle there should not be a great difference in weight vs the aluminum tubes.

But tariffs are boosting the prices of the carbon fiber bottles just like the guns. Most small CF bottles come from China.

An aluminum bottle will add weight.

Economics it might just be better to stick with the tube and see how the tariff situation works out.

BTW: Zelos is a great choice starting out.

CF bottles off of Amazon are $95-$130 depending on size of bottle.

Tuxing 0.36l was about $80 last year. $109 now and if the additional threatened tariffs are implemented no telling how much they will cost.

Best bargain is the 0.5L which is only $109 right now.

Only *bargains* on AliExpress ship from US stock. 1.1L Acecare for $101. But Tuxing/Alsafe/Acecare dont stock gun size bottles in the US. At some point they will run out of pre-tariff stocks of the larger tanks too.

The C88 Machining adapter is well received. it comes with shims to get clocked.

Zelos is regulated so if you stick to the max 3650psi no additional parts required.

If you want to use 4500psi in the bottle then you need a Zelos regulator from Huben Power and you do not need the above adapter.

I just discovered some bottled Zelos compacts done by firewalker - I'm liking that. How do I find this gentleman ?
If you get in touch with him and decide to go with a bottled compact, offer him extra money to shorten the barrel properly. I bought one of his guns off another member. With the choke removed because that’s how he shortened it, it shot like something that rhymes with it. I rebarreled mine and did some other work. It’s a good gun now. Expensive China gun now, but I like it.

I have the 109.00 tuxing fiber glass bottle off Amazon on mine. Also have the hueban cricket bottle adapter with the regulator so I can fill to 300 bar. Greatly increases the shot count. The Huben cricket bottle adapter was purchased from hajimoto productions after the tariffs . The other I purchased directly from hueban before the tariff. One for my 22 and the other for my 35 zelos

I found firewalker on here but don't know if I can pm him yet until my post count gets up. If I shorten the barrel (good info on the choke removal , I didn't think of that) I'm contacting him. Just found an adapter by C88 machining that looks good as well as the bottle off Amazon that someone mentioned. I see now that these parts are round so clocking the adapter may be a non-issue. Really considering this outfit, wish I'd been able to buy the one from the classified here before, that was a deal. Thanks for the info, I'm starting to make sense of it.

At least, Wes, of airgunarcheryfun, warns of tariffs from China and Canada being combined, less scrupulous stay silent and allow US customers to suffer the shock of a lifetime. WM

I have an M60b from Wes that i put a carbon fiber bottle on, as well as a zelos that I also put a carbon fiber bottle on. On the zelos I went with the huben regulator adapter to allow for 300 bar fills. Its super easy to clock and install. I did have to change the oring where the bottle connects to a 90 durometer hardness as the original would brake when removing under pressure. Works fine with the harder oring. I like the huben reg that I purchased another spare just to have.

Clocking a part is sometimes necessary so the gauge and foster fitting line up correctly. You don't want your barrel in the way of your foster fitting , or you won't be able to get a hose on it.

You can order a pack of shim washers on eBay , Amazon or McMaster Carr. The bottle threads are m18 and the neck of a carbon fiber bottle is 30mm. So a washer size of 18 mm ID X 25MM OD Would probably work fine. .2mm thickness , or .4mm thickness. Then you use a stack of washers to make it clocked correctly. As long as the OD of the washer is less than 30mm it wont stick out past the neck of the bottle.

Those would work if you were trying to clock the bottle, but you are trying to clock the adapter. So you need to verify what size the threads on the adapter are, and order a package of shims to fit.
