Your most accurate PCP rifle for first shot accuracy

You didn't really specify the range as a lot of guns will shoot pretty good at 40-50yds off the shelf for the first shot depending on your criteria. I'd say my my 30cal Crown at 75-80 is my best first shot gun. Out of all the guns I've own (been a lot) this is the best for that. I wouldn't hesitate on baring down on a dove or pigeon at that yardage and not expect a kill shot.

Yes, I have owned many fine airguns. I would say more than half had reg creep issues. The object of my ire now, is not an expensive airgun, but the lowly Artemis P15 in .25. From the day I bought it, it was nothing but trouble. It came to me leaking air out of the box, accuracy was terrible (1 1/2-2" groups at 25 yards). Before the gun arrived, I ordered an Air-fective shroud with Venom moderator, and numerous other accessories-I never go in half way. I fixed the leak, but the accuracy was still bad so I bought a Huma reg with power plenum, and had Lee at Lee AirPro cut a Lothar Walther poly barrel. The accuracy was much better but it still took 3-4 shots for the gun to go close to POA after sitting even overnight.

As my wife never lets me forget, I put so much $$ into this gun, that I am considering parting it out just to recoup part of my $$. I would never sell anyone a gun that shoots like it does now. When I shot it today, it had an ES of 82, and an SD of 18 after putting the Huma reg back in. I am sure that with some tuning, I can make it better, but with the reg creep issue I will still not be happy. I have the Air Fective shroud (with barrel inserts) and Venom moderator, 3 Carm magazines, a Carm SS tray, Biathlon cocking lever, cheek piece, barrel picatinny sections, and adjustable butt pad all printed by Jake Bowman. In addition to the stock reg, I have tried the Huma power plenum, and have an Altaros on the way tied up in delivery. I can take this gun apart in my sleep, but I am about to throw the towel in on this one.

I do have P15's in .22 and .177 which never leaked, and shoot relatively well for guns with a base price of $550. For example, when shooting the .22 today, it had an ES of 14 and an SD of 4.4, and the .177 had an ES of 20 and SD of 6.5, which to me were acceptable, since neither of the two are really broken in yet. I heard that the P15 in .25 was the most problematic, and in my case, it sure was true, and I'm not sure any amount of money can make it what I want it to be.

I will be looking for that gun (preferably a .25) that I can leave by the back door and have it shoot where I left it when somethings shows that needs shot.

A couple of mine have tremendous first shot accuracy. Maintaining a perfect zero is pretty high on my list of must-have characteristics for an airgun.

For my personal guns....

On the unregulated side, the USFT, Discovery, and Brocock Concept S6 all fit into that category of putting the first one where I want it. I shot the Disco for the first time in a long time a few days ago and it was spot on. Brocock got shot yesterday for the first time since late summer and it was spot on as well.

For the regulated guns, my Veteran Long and Short place em right where they should, regardless of how long they've sat. For about the first year when it was new, the first shot from the Short would hit low (reg creep?). It no longer does that though, somehow it got over it. (maybe it was the handful of drops of silicone oil I put into the fill port around that time?)

I shot these from the Long (.22) yesterday evening.

(First time the gun has been out and shot in almost six weeks (been living in a soft case for that 6 weeks). 3, 10 shot groups, started at the top. Only took 30 shots and theyre all here. First group at the top wasn't great but i was pulling shots-can't blame the gun for that. The first couple went into the photocopied dimes and I couldn't see holes. I could hear them hitting the paper but was starting to get concerned it wasn't my pellet trap that I was hitting until I missed the dime on the pulled shots. On the second group I pulled the third or 4th shot but the other 9 went into the dime. On the third group the first 9 went into the dime and then I pulled the last shot. 10th shot hurt on that one. Bucket and sticks at 53 yards. Not sure if I'm more impressed with the stable point of impact or the master's touch of the machinist that cut this barrel for me. Either way, quite pleased with it's performance, and even more so since it was the first time shooting the gun in so long).

I've reviewed a couple that were also impressive in their ability to maintain zero. Daystate Redwolf, BSA Goldstar, Brocock Concept XR, RTI Prophet were all really good in this regard.

Those completely un-trustable first shot guns seem to really be limited to just a few specific models. I've seen and heard enough owners of certain guns with recurrent and notoriously squirrelly first shot IMPACT points to know the guns that I'll never spend my money on.

My Kalibrguns and the Taipan are very consistent in this regard. I can trust them to take a shot on a critter 2 weeks after the last one and hit it’s mark every time. Usually range is 25 to 30 yards.
*Here’s my POI Challenge with the KG Mini in .22. I shoot the gun over a whole month and see if it keeps it’s POI.

I can sympathize...a rifle with multiple problems can wear on a person until all motivation to persevere has been thoroughly squeezed out.

For me, a bad barrel is the worst. Most things dealing with the metering of air I can deal with (valves, regulators) and there are a number of barrel defects I can remedy but every once in a while I come across one that gets the better of me.

Clearly the P15 has achieved a similar level of frustration for you, so I will share this with the understanding that you may be ready to dust your hands of it. Regulator creep is all about the surface quality of the regulator’s valve seat. Even the no-name $15 paintball regulators from Aliexpress can be made to regulate beautifully by dressing the plastic seal with wet/dry sandpaper, removing any machining marks or surface scratches.

For regs with a flat seal you don’t even need a lathe, just a flat surface like a piece of glass or granite to serve as a backer for the sandpaper. Just work it by hand against the sandpaper, rotating it in your hand periodically to help even out any bias.

For regs with a non-flat valve seat, burnishing the mating surfaces together with an abrasive paste like J-B will usually get the job done.

I should have mentioned, price is no object.

Well then if money was no object then just Have Tim at MAC1 build you an UNREGULATED MAC1 USFT or Martin Rutherford Build an UNREGULATED HM1000X.

Post a WTB for am UNREGULATED Brocock Bantam HiLite 22 expect to pay $600 or less shipped. You will never miss your first shot with this one for sure or the Benjamin Maximus 22 or Hatsan Flash or Vectis 22.

As a backdoor gun, the .22 Vet Short never lets me down. What are you expecting to shoot that requires a .25? I don’t own the .25 so I can’t personally opine. Some members, like @blackpaw have one and report great accuracy with them. My .22 can shoot from 22 to about 34fpe and is capable of taking down a fox sized animal with the right shot placement.

Talk about reg creep all yall want, I never had any with the amp or huma regs in this gun

Crowns are notorious for POI shift due to the liner system... Well, the short barrel I've fitted and re-fitted so many times, and with so much force, that it no longer shifts anymore. Every component has settled into place, and no longer shifts but the tiniest hair. And only if I intentionally hit it, trying to create a shift. I thought I'd broken the barrel system after a hard fall from about 7 feet. So, I started really beating on it.

If that's not good enough for you, I've got a 500mm barrel that is carbon fiber bonded. It has no tendency to shift POI either. I also have a barrel for it that does not have a liner in it. Just a solid original smooth twist like what the Royales came with. Couple that with no reg creep, the lightweight hammer in this gun, crisp trigger, and great balance. It's very hard to not hit what you want to

Lelya 2.0 is still on my list to acquire, but may have to part with one of my others first.

I should have mentioned, price is no object.

I gotta admit I'm a bit confused now. There's been quite a discussion on how that first shot could be off. I was really only thinking reg creep in regards to "THE FIRST" shot being taken - with the assumption that the second shot was on target. In my mind this precluded a conversation of POI shift - as the first and subsequent shots would then be off. I've spent most of the time reading to this point scratching my head on barrels and POI shifts and all sorts of stuff.

What I think @cmatera wants is a gun which will shoot spot on every time he picks it up - old reliable so to speak. Maybe it's not laser accurate for benchrest, but it will still predictably shoot say within 1/2" all the time at 25 yards. (I'm assuming he wants better precision than this though, I would).

I can only speak to guns I've owned or used, I won't speculate. For me this rules out any of the SPA Chinese models or those rebranded by Artemis or Diana - they pretty much all had POI shift issues. The EdGun R5m is a solid recommendation. The Leshiy 2 does have a first shot shoots a little hot issue, but it's predictable so maybe that's okay. I can't say enough about AAA or my EVOL, forget about the first shot being always on - I can unscrew and remove the barrel and reinstall it and still be sure MY FIRST SHOT WILL STILL BE ON - if that doesn't nail it right there for you then I dunno what will - $$$ being no object. I'd stay away from FX as you could get one that's a laser or you could get one that has reg and POI shift issues. The Taipan Veteran - yes yes yes - if there's any sub $2K gun I would recommend this would be it. I don't know if it'd be up your alley as your ammo selection is limited but my new to me for about 3 weeks .22 Huben K1 is pretty solid. First shot is always on, no reg creep, easily adjustable reg and power knobs.

My experience with PCP is limited to the Taipan Veteran .22 long but I believe that most higher end guns are more than rodent size target accurate within say 50 meters. The most important thing is the tuning. It seems some guns like the Taipan Veteran is tuned to be as powerful as possible from the factory. This is good if you're gonna use heavy pellets, but in most cases it will shoot normal weight pellets too fast without tuning. You really have to take your time and properly tune to your pellet of choice if you want a regulated PCP to shoot on target regardless of how long the gun sits unused.
