Your most accurate PCP rifle for first shot accuracy

Both of my lighter "hunting" rifles have a very stable first shot POI, Royal 400 and Daystate Revere.

My guns aren't in the expensive realm but it doesen't matter if they sat months, if they have been leaning against something, If I grab them by the barrel,.....that 1st shot will be where the last one was before I put them away.



Lowly Evanix guns is what I have and they are as reliable as it gets.

There is not question that unregulated guns are better for first shot accuracy.

However if I tune my regulated guns a certain way my regulated guns can be just as accurate on the first shot but those tunes wastes a lot of air just like unregulated guns because the approach is the same so I don’t stick with those tunes.

As of today, all three of my guns are reliable in this regard. I was having a little trouble with the first shot velocity of my P35 but I figured out it was my bad tune. I had the hammer spring set too low for the regulator setting. The regulator creeps a little but the effect on velocity with the hammer where it should be is less than 10 fps. So inconsequential for accuracy at my backyard distances (100 feet or less). My other two guns are a Prod (unregulated) and a 25 caliber Avenger. I've shot the most squirrels with the Prod, I think it's count is 15 so far (in less than a year). I had POI issues with a bug buster scope but with the Hawke 2-7 it now wears it is very reliable. It has to be. Backyard squirrels do not give you much time and rarely give me a second shot. I've shot two with the Avenger and it did great too. I have had it's West Hunter scope move when target shooting but it is rare. I had the Primary Arms 4-14 on my P35 move for the first time today. It shifted up about half an inch at 100 feet. First time in about 500 shots on this gun. So I think it will be reliable.

The little Prod hangs by the back door but I am hoping a squirrel shows up for the P35 to get a chance soon.

All three of my guns will put three shots with pellets they like into a quarter inch group at 100 feet when I do my part. The P35 has done this a few times with H&N Slug HPs.

I shot at least one group with my two older guns (the Prod and Avenger) almost every day for a couple weeks to be sure the POI was not changing. This inherently also told me the first shot was going where it should.

I don't have any high end PCPs, but of the four I do have (Gamo Urban, Nova Liberty. 177, Nova Liberty. 22, Walther Dominator 1250 .177), the Dominator is by far the most consistent. I mounted a Hawke Vantage on it this January and it hasn't lost zero yet. All three of my other PCPs have frustrated me with poi issues, but the Dominator has been rock solid. Even the first shot after a fill is dead on. At 30 yards, I can aim at a blank piece of paper and hit exactly where my crosshairs are and then put another one in the same hole with Crosman Premier Domes 10.5 grain . The gun rarely throws "fliers" and when it does I'm convinced it's due to a damaged pellet. I got this gun last year when Umarex had their holiday sale for $120 (no tax and free shipping), which was a flat out steal.

I wish my other guns were as reliable as the Walther.
