Your Go-To slug?(.177/.22)

Slug collection expansion needed.
I have 1 tin of .22 slugs in 40 grain. About 75% through that tin
Want to see what you all use.
Obviously been looking around and will try a few different tins; so post your faves AND not so faves

I've been shooting some noe 24 grain slugs that I cast and size to .215. Anytime I run low I just recycle the lead in my pellet trap and cast some more.

So 24gr in .22?*I keep seeing like 5 sizes for .22 and a few sizes for .177

I've tried about 10 different kinds in 22 and even more in 25. Grizzlies, NSA, FX, HN.

In 22, one of my guns will shoot the NSA 17.5 .217" very well. The other 22 with the same barrel(NP03 barrels) will shotgun them. These are choked barrels so that's probably why.

My 25 kral likes FX hybrids and NSA 33.5 .250"

I was going to continue down that rabbit hole but the cost vs results were not adding up so I put foolishness aside and just shoot Hades in every gun now and life is good... well, not for the squirrels!

NSA 17.5gr .2175 thru my RAW...if I clean the barrel, same accuracy as JSB 18gr pellets 1-2 clicks left on windage turret.

NSA 17.5gr .2175 in my dreamline and JSB knockouts 10.03gr in my RTI Prophet compact.

It really depends on what you want from a slug. They can be accurate at lower velocities, but you can forget seeing any expansion unless you push them hard.

I'm honestly debating as to what base shape would be best?

I'm seeing good results from 10.3 Knockouts at different velocities and in different guns. I haven't tried them in .22 yet.

Surprised no one mentioned Zan 28gr .218 in 22 - if you have an FX Impact M3 you will love this slug.

Jsb knockouts 13g at 1020-30fps .177 in my Evanix Rainstorm
NSA .218 24.8g at 950 from Reximex Throne .22.
From either gun hittimg black walnuts in the tree, pellets just penetrate or go through and slugs in either make them explode, they work.

JSB Knockout 2 in .216 in for my Prophet 1 with RPB barrel. NSA 20.2 in .2175 in my 500mm Crown…both subject to change.

My wife and ‘I shoot identical M3’s, except her’s is bronze and mine is black so we can tell them apart.
My M3 loves Zan 23 gr .218’s shot at 970 fps. FX says no need for a heavy liner until you get up to around 30 gr. In 22. My Superior liner would not shoot the 23 gr Zan slugs at all. Stuck a heavy liner in the gun and viola!! We have a winner.
I tried to set up my wife’s M3 so we could use the same slug and simplify our ammo. Nothing doing. Her Superior liner shot them so so and her heavy liner shot them poorly. Tried some NSA 24.8, .218 in her heavy liner and they shot pretty good. Increased the speed to 960 and they shoot very well.
I had a Maverick 22 Sniper that liked NSA 27.5 gr., .217’s. shot at 965. It would not shoot .218’s worth beans.
Point is there is no one slug that is a universal fit for all or most air guns. I am not aware of any short cuts other than to determine who has the best quality and consistency in their products and start testing.
Slugs remain a rabbit hole and will most likely stay that way for the near future until all the wizardry and voodoo are worked out.

My go to slug for when in the mood is 15 year old McCallan Scotch. A slug of that and everything is put into perspective.
I have to do some shooting with the ones I have to see if I can get them to work.

The 225-61-HP is a great one too.

What weight it drops with hp pin? Maybe I need to test do I get decent stability with that one. Im prettymuch hitting edge of stability factor with that 51grainer and cant go much heavier with my pcp if want to stay at 1000fps
