In my Impact Mk2 and two different Crown MK2 rifles the NSA 24.8 grain .218 slug shoots very very well at 950 fps. I really couldn’t be happier with their accuracy or expansion in squirrels.

Mine average 60 grains and expand nicely in water at 900 fps. What weight it drops with hp pin? Maybe I need to test do I get decent stability with that one. Im prettymuch hitting edge of stability factor with that 51grainer and cant go much heavier with my pcp if want to stay at 1000fps![]()
The best way to know what your rifle will like is to find the groove diameter and get or cast slugs to.0005 to.001 using a sizing die.So 24gr in .22?*I keep seeing like 5 sizes for .22 and a few sizes for .177![]()
All I have is the .217 and they do good most days out to 40 so far but I haven't opened them up past that. They will do dimes in my 22 mega but my 22 breaker hates them lol. Both have np03 barrels(16" choked)Kral barrels really like the 17.5 .2175s. I shot a 1.25 inch 100 yard group with my Cayden the first time I ever tried them.View attachment 327635
Going back to your original post, I think this is about the only option for expansion unless you can push a slug 950 fps or more.Slug collection expansion needed.
I have 1 tin of .22 slugs in 40 grain. About 75% through that tin
Want to see what you all use.
Obviously been looking around and will try a few different tins; so post your faves AND not so faves![]()
I found posts by several Cayden owners that said .2175 was the way to go. I ordered them and haven't been disappointed. I need to haul out the beastly Cayden and try some of my cast slugs and my 20 grain cast pellets and see how they do. The thing is crazy accurate but I just can't fall in love with it because of the size and weight. All I have is the .217 and they do good most days out to 40 so far but I haven't opened them up past that. I had some samples of 20.2 grain .218 from Ballistic Advantage(think those were just NSA slugs put into a little ziplok baggie by the ebay seller), those stacked good too. They were a bit slow, but that was with an unmodified gun.
I need to get some more and try them out, but my breaker is stacking hades 15.89 and polymags out to 60 so I don't really need slugs for what I do. The polymags will make me think I missed because they'll be one hole most times off of a bag rest.
I know you could mount it on a wall and display that gorgeous stock it has!I found posts by several Cayden owners that said .2175 was the way to go. I ordered them and haven't been disappointed. I'm pretty smitten with this Stoeger Bullshark in .177. I might try to sell the Cayden and pick up another one in .22.I know you could mount it on a wall and display that gorgeous stock it has!
Mine was accurate and had good power, but it was nothing short of a boat anchor in terms of handling. Almost 4 foot long with a moderator is ridiculous.
My kral jumbo is 39" with the 16" barrel and a DonnyFL Koi. That's my limit is 40", after that they're too unwieldy.
I'm sure it'll sell if you wanted too. If there was a way to get a shorter barrel (sans lopping it off) and shroud on it, I'd be willing to buy it simply because of the looks and I know the platform. Benjamin/Kral did that rifle a disservice by not shrouding it.I'm pretty smitten with this Stoeger Bullshark in .177. I might try to sell the Cayden and pick up another one in .22.
It would be better without the extra length of the suppressor. You've kinda got my wheels spinning now. I really don't need another project, but...I'm sure it'll sell if you wanted too. My plan was to get an akela tube block to lower the tube and then run a shrouded barrel that was cut and crowned. You'd need to inlet the stock for the tube to get about 3/8" lower which is where I drew the line. Turkish walnut isn't the easiest to carve up but it is definitely resistant to cracking from chisel work. It would be a sweet rifle then! I'd cry if I messed up the stock you have though! It would be better without the extra length of the suppressor. You've kinda got my wheels spinning now. I really don't need another project, but...
I'm not home but I was looking at pictures of mine and it does look like more work and more risk than I'm willing to take on.My plan was to get an akela tube block to lower the tube and then run a shrouded barrel that was cut and crowned.
