Your Favorite FX Crown Settings and Ammo Combo

Hey guys, new FX Crown .25 owner here. I have been shooting JSB's 25gr and 33gr out of the stock Crown with factory setting on High.

I'm curious to know everyone's favorite "wheel settings/ammo/FX barrel combos" for the best accuracy.

Here are my 50 yard groups with JSB 25gr and 33gr's. I'd like to do better. Any tips on Crown accuracy would be appreciated regardless of caliber ... including regulator pressure settings (if regulator adjustment is necessary for a certain pellet/setting.) Thanks! -Nate

My groups so far (3 days of practice)

25 gr JSB @ 50 yards (5 shots)

33gr JSB .25 cal FX Crown on High @ 50 Yards (5 shots)

33gr JSB .25 cal FX Crown on High @ 50 Yards (10 shots)

I used to shoot the 25.4gr. JSB's a lot because I like the velocity and accuracy. However, after shooting the 33.95 JSB's I found them to be a lot more accurate in my gun. Better BC for bucking the wind and also better retained velocity and energy. Try the 33.95gr. MKI's and the MKII's. Some guns like the MKI's others like the MKII's. My original liner that came with my Crown preferred the MKI's and the slug liner I've been testing loves the MKII's. This liner shoots the JSB MKII's like a laser beam. My gun as currently set up at 160 BAR shoots the 33.95 MKII's at 925 FPS but my Crown is not stock. It's set to .25-.30, Max and my hammer spring is almost maxed out internally. Here's a 10 shot, 50yd group with the MKII's I shot as a base group while slug testing. My gun shoots the MKII's @ 50yds within 3/8"-5/8" every time. If the group isn't great, I screwed up, not the gun or pellets!

You won’t go back to your other rifles now that you got a crown.

Yes, I thought I was going to sell it and score a free scope out of the deal. I can't let go of it though. One is because it is about the best rifle I have ever shot. ...but two is that the possibilities are endless with this gun with new liners and caliber switch outs...it's like nothing else. You have to have at least 1 Crown!

Check out this noise: I just bought the .25 cal Crown in Blue Laminate! so my Walnut is going up for sale on Sat morning.

from the sellers ad:

Wind at the local range makes accurate shooting challenging, but attached is an example of what the rifle is capable of. 5-pellet group at 50 yards. CTC is 0.334 inch.

Nick47: Good question. I only have JSB's

WOW. I like bass42's group. No I want a .22! That's awesome I can bookmark and refer back to this thread down the road. When I actually get the .22 barrel I'll come back and enter bass42's settings. I love JSB 18gr's. Probably my favorite pellet of any brand or caliber. That blue is maybe the best of the laminates for the Crown.

The new RAW has laminates. I had to go with the black/grey one because I couldn't decide between blue or red...and I already have a Red gun. They are not as nice looking as the Crown laminates though.

I do not think you can copy someone else settings and expect the same accuracy they might have achieved. First reason is that the gauges on the guns are not accurate enough, some can be 5-10 bar off. The seccond is that if you want to find the velocity where your gun behave the best harmonically there is many factors. How far out the shroud is extended might influence that, or do you use another moderator? The stock might influence that. Dou you use a lighter syntetic stock, than a litle heavier wood stock? You can probably use theire settings as a reference point to try out. But I believe you have to try your own settings. You also have do deside if you want to tune the gun at the "knee" or not. If you do not plan to shoot below regpressure, you might find better accuracy with a higher regpressure than what is needed to achieve a certain velocity.

You can then start with relative low pressure, and then try different velocitys covering a wide range (830fps and up maybe?), up to the max speed. Then increase the reg 5 bar, and try the same velocity range as before, and also going a lilte higher up to max again. If you do that repeteadly you will probably find a setting which your particular gun likes.

Nate, Soon you’ll be getting those groups at 100 yards! I have a .30 barrel liner kit coming today. The .25 is totally amazing and I can’t wait for the .30 cal. The poly mags don’t fit the Crown magazine, maybe they will offer the short ones soon. I’m going to try pulling out the tips, it worked with the .25 although I only shot them at 17 yards. Same hole at 17 yards perfect for skunks.
