You get what you pay for

I got tired of wobbly as well :)
Made everything Arca... all PCP's, camera, camera flash units, bi-pods, tripod, spotting scope and more

I shoot bench a lot and wanted something dedicated to that.

Mike Hunt...

Pretty nice handy work with the aluminum, welding, and mill work. Had you given any thought to not using a flat bar for the cross piece? seems it would be a bit "springy". Maybe even a 90* angle aluminum would work there welded between the 2 legs?

Howdy and Thank You. The flat bar is pretty rigid at 3/16" thickness and the Arca wheel requires a cutout (wheel well) to operate.

You could use angle aluminum with one side being a 2' minimum, for the 'wheel well', but it's very rigid the way it is and the angles get more difficult to figure out, for me at least.

No mills involved ... cutoff wheel, Dewalt miter saw, Dremel, drill and welder.
